Hi guys!
This was a spontanious recording. I already tried recording this piece months ago but always failed. So yesterday i had the urge to try again. This was the second take, not perfect but i thought if i try more then it will only get worse. Pretty long piece, pretty frustrating messing up near the end, lol.
To make the video a bit more interesting, i added a few pictures. Oltremare means overseas, and even though Einaudi is Italian and probably meant the other side of the sea from a european standpoint, i pretended that i was on the western side of the atlantic ocean, thinking overseas.. I know.. complicated.. i hope i make any sense xD

0:26 - 0:50, one of the most emotional and poetic segments of any Einaudi song and you play it so beautifully, absolutely incredible cover mate!

This is my favorite Einaudi piece...so far! I love playing it for my friends, but they cannot seem to hang on to the end...I guess you have to love this kind of music to listen for that long!

Thanks, again! I hear what you´re saying. Kind of sad when you play something you love for someone and they can´t appreciate it the same way like you do. I dont think most people listen to entire videos on youtube either, especially long songs like these ^^

I listen to this cover VERY often. It calmed me down many times, during my College and now at work. I prefer this verson to the original but the advertisement is disruptive :/

Here I am, sitting in the dark with my earphones on so I don't wake Dave just yet, and I think, yes, this is what it's like to be in heaven. The photos are gorgeous...your diaphanous effect puts them in motion. And of course, watching your hands bring it all to life is grand in itself. So wonderfully done, Alex! Lieber "Mensch" (kenne Deinen Namen nicht), Du spielst dieses wunderbare Stück so kaum fassbar SCHÖN - mir fehlen die Worte, mit denen ich es beschreiben kann; Dein Spiel geht mir direkt durch die Haut ins Herz (ich weiß, klingt kitschig), doch genau SO ist es!!! What can I say. Another great piece of music. I can understand to a degree, that the more a piece of music is practiced minor mistakes creap in, much to one's frustration.I'm learning to play the guitar and make mistakes with chord progression.Sir, may you continue to post your music for all to enjoy.

Such wonderful music to wake up to this early Sunday morning! I like that it is a long piece, gives me more time to soak it up entirely. Someone else post talked about your moving hands. Yes, watching your hands play and move over the keyboard is part of your personality and how you play, of course done expertly. This video truly relaxed me. Each time you play another piece, I get more interested in learning to play something of Einaudi--will try one of these days. Have a wonderful week!

How does one play like that? Oh very simple! You just have to practice like 20 years? :,D Lol. When I see your fingers move over those keys doing those crazy combinations and keeping up with the rhythm I can only shake my head in disbelief. xD I donno how you do that. :,D But it's excellent! Keeping it cool for 10 min while playing a complex song? w00t! And... I really liked the pictures! So pretty! :3

Your rendition does great justice to the original. The parts I struggle with the most are the sections where there are eighth notes in the left hand and eighth-note triplets in the right hand (i.e. more than half the song haha). Any tips for playing these different "feels" in each hand together?

i assume you are intentionally playing it just a bit slower. is this because of concerns about hand dexterity given how long the song is and how demanding some of the portions can be on hand endurance? just curious.

Count out loud 1-and-2-and-3 as you play. On each 1/2/3 you play a note on the right hand. On each 1 and on the 'and' between 2 and 3 you play a note on the left hand. So on each 1 you have perfect matching notes. Good luck!

***** I wish I could reach the tenths however. Einaudi, Lanz and others loves to throw in tenths and not all of us can reach them. keep up the recording. it helps us learn these pieces!

Im learning this song and it just doesn’t sound as pretty as the way it does here. It’s probably because i only have a keyboard. I eventually want to buy a real piano. (Not real but an electric one with weighted keys) can you please tell me which one you have! I want the same one!

I am playing on a Yamaha clavinova clp370. It's a few years old now and they don't sell this particular model anymore, but improved successors. Just look for the new clavinova series. Good luck :)
