1997 Acura Integra Type R was $25k MSRP... $47k in 2023 dollars. So really not too far off of what they're asking now... also sobering look at inflation.

As someone who swore off Hondas because of the toxic community and dealership experience, your review has caused me to reconsider this. If you’re a parent who wants something that is more practical than a coupe and costs less than $70k, this seems like a solid choice. Mark ups aren’t palatable to me, but when you don’t have a lot of choices that are new, shopping for a dealer that will be more fair is critical.

Excellent work as always, this content is very obviously a cut above most content you can find on youtube. I appreciate your particular POV and dedication to providing something much more engaging than the run of the mill. And the car of course, did not expect it to be anything more than a CTR with an acura badge...clearly I was very wrong lol.

First car I bought new was an Integra RS in 1987. It was a 1986 model, but with Acura being a new brand name people didn't realize what it was which was essentially an upgraded civic with a different body. Only 99 hpp, but I drove it like I stole it for years. Over 275k miles wheen I sold it.

When they started talking about the exhaust, and he started building up to the car they wanted to strive towards with “emotional sound”, I was whispering “say the RS, say the RS” and I fist pumped when he said it. The RS really nailed the pops and bangs to sound like a chaotic hot hatch without being a bmw with a burble tune.

My local dealer has 5 of them, and as of this morning only one was accounted for. They told me that they were “forced” to have them equipped with all the accessories, and are going to be locked in at 10k over MSRP.

Much like my 2nd wife, I was much more of a fan of the new Integra when it got wider.

$55,000 is a pretty steep entry price. With dealers already adding $15k to $20k markup on these...it becomes totally irrelevant. No one with any sense is going to pay $70,000 for this Integra.

When searching car review videos on KZfaq I usually flip through the channels looking for other reviews of the same car ….this video delivered on so many levels I didn’t even think of searching for others on the ITS. Great job guys!

Philosophy behind cars is so cool. Oems have interesting ways they integrate focus ideas to mass production cars. Like how to integrate racing to a car yet still comfortably let someone with kids do grocery runs regularly.

My first Gen Integra still pulls at my heart, glad they kept the blue, nice. But though that price tag is disheartening, that one, much like mine seems to do everything right.

Many seemed to hate on the haters saying 2 doors just don't sell any more.. But it wasn't just the 2 door, fastback hatch that made that specific gen beloved. It also had a bespoke 1.8L engine, when the then top Civic SI only had 1.6L

I think I'm not dissapointed anymore about this car thanks to this video, and it's not the first time I feel like this after a SG video...absolutely fantastic content. Interacting with the manufacturers is a HUGE plus!

Massively well done job to Mark and Jack. And to get this out there timely must have been very long hours in the edit room for this much footage. I was in the market for this car and when I inquired a few months ago about the waiting list, they said they also put a minimum $10k dealer markup on all Acura's there and expected it to be even higher for a limited run Type S. I was really bummed because even though I could afford that, I won't in principle. Ended up buying the WRX for under $40k and couldn't be happier. I gave up some quality in material choices for a similar quality of fun. I wish Acura all the luck in the world selling to the Acura/Honda enthusiasts who want a FWD MT slightly softer Type R experience with four doors for $60k+. There must be dozens of them.

Ah! NOW I get why the Integra S has a widebody design…like the Mopars. Makes perfect sense. 😁👍

They weren't common because they limited their production even back in the 90's and early 00's. So people couldn't get their hands on them easily even back then. So don't tell us "the market" didn't want these cars, or that a 2-door version of an Integra wouldn't sell out in the current market. I could barely get my hands on a 2020 Honda Si Coupe when I was shopping around for it. The dealers in my area (eastern PA) had none, and had to order one for me.

This shows the maturity and depth of this channel and that’s exactly why this channel is special. I totally understand the feeling of missing the good old times of DC2 but if you don’t want to upkeep a 90s car, this is a decent attempt to create a modern iteration of a hot rod Integra.
