To be honest I think Clarkson loves the sound of his own voice. I don't really like his politics or him as a person. Hammond used to be alright but has become far too full of his own self-importance. May, not really much I can add about James other than he's very knowledgeable and regularly falls out with Clarkson.

I don’t get it why Peugeots get so criticized. They’ve won almost every type of championship in motorsport. In terms of reliability look at all those 206s and 307s still on the streets running fine. You cannot deny how iconic the 205 or the 406 coupe is. Even in recent years they’ve made descent standout cars such as the RCZ and the 308 GTI. Such an underrated brand.

Currently the owner of the best car I've ever had, a 308 Gti, with it's small but mighty 1.6 litre engine pumping out 270 bhp, huge 15" brakes, limited slip diff, massaging bucket seats and plenty of other kit. Super light, super agile, very quick, quiet, comfy, refined and 50 MPG on those long drives, it couldn't tick any more boxes if it tried!

Paul Hawkins Still one of the best modern hot hatches nearly 5 years after it launched, but very underrated by many journalists who praise the likes of the i30n and golf GTi (even though many track tests suggest the 308 has the best dynamics) I think it’s mainly because Peugeot put most of their advertising money into their SUV range and electric cars nowadays! I have the 308’s little brother the 208 by PS and despite the hype, I find it better than a fiesta St in almost every measurable way...
@PaulHawkins87

@@dgbservices6049 Agreed, although if you read EVO'S top hatchbacks, they rank the 308 higher than things like the 340i and RS3, its defo the best thing I've ever driven in this range. Paul Hawkins Literally the only fwd car in that class that rivals the 308 GTi dynamically is the civic type r (which needs an extra 50hp/80nm and extra £5k to buy spec for spec) it’s an incredible car for the money! Admittedly I preferred the more resolved driving experience of the 308 compared with my 208 but the 208 was a bit more affordable 😂 and yes, the new 208 is an absolute game changer in the small car class, just hope they will give the choice of petrol or electric for the GTi version! 🤞

This French brand has a spot in my heart. I had a 405 STI LM edition, my paternal grandpa's last car he had ever driven is a 505, and my cousin had a 206. I also rented a 308 SW in Germany accompanying my friend renting it and it had a great impression. I'm also happy that this Frenchie roar back again since the introduction of the 3008. I want to review the mk2 508 so bad (Peugeot of Indonesia didn't sell it yet), including the miniature version of it (unfortunately Majorette will only get the SW, I want the sedan so only norev makes the mini 508 sedans)

@@Dan-wz9tr I've owned the 205 Gti 1.9, 309Gti 1.9 and the 106gti [not xsi] the 106 is quicker accelerating and has the higher top speed. I live down a 15km winding road which I used to travel late at night with no other road users. All three got pushed to the limits on this road, a road that covers all types of corners and the 309 felt the most planted but was slowest on the timer. All three were no good in the wet. So you can keep your odds and I'll just hang onto 2nd gear between corners then head out of them faster . Yes it's [309] got the best footprint, but point to point and in a straight line the 106 is simply a quicker cat. I sold the 205 to keep the 106 because I enjoyed how everyone underestimates them. I now have the spiritual successor, by my weird logic to the 309gti in the 206 gti wagon, it too has a wider rear beam/footprint and feels much more secure on the same road than the hatch in much the same way. I think we both just love our cars, the 106 is twitchier to begin with and lacks low end shove but once you spend enough time with it you find the limit, push it further, find another limit etc.. the difference on any straight is very telling. We're obviously passionate about our pug's and maybe your experience is different but of the three, I'd only ever re-buy the 106. :) p.s. it also always idled properly.

Meantime, my '96 106 (already transitioned from carb to fuel injection) is going strong. The only maintenance repair I've had to do in over a year of ownership was the oil sensor. I've bought it from a mechanic who've done a full maintenance service, everything from the head gasket, clutch and wheel axles got replaced. It doesn't even have oil leaks nor it burns oil beyond the factory spec (a quarter per 1000 kms).
