when adam hills did his impression of an "aussie chef" muppet, he sounded just like Dave Hughes (for those of you youtubers who aren't australian and have no idea who Dave Hughes is, humor me and look him up now, then listen to Adam's impression again... i think you'll be pleasantly surprised!)

I'm fluent in Swedish thanks to the Swedish chef. So what if the Swedes have no idea what I'm saying?

When he says "the funny man will be speaking swedish" - that's a really good swedish accent! The E in swedish is spot on! At least if it's a Swede that haven't had much practise speaking english.
I'm swedish and he does the swedish accent really good. If i didn't knew he was australian, i would have thought he was swedish who spoke english =)

Almost, after a while they also colonized Iceland the Faeroe islands and Greenland. The Icelandic vikings where also involved in the raids on europe, particularly on the british islands. The vikings also settled other places, Russia, Normandy and the island of Man but in these places they adapted to the local cultures. At any rate, nice show :)

Actually, if he's said the same thing more than once in other videos, it's because it would have been the same show in different locations. Adam Hills has been touring with stand up comedy for well over a decade - I think he's had plenty of time to develop new material. He has a diverse range of topics, and hundereds of different acts.

that texan accent thing is so funny. actually all my spanish speaking family and spaniard friends( they don't speak english) think my english sounds like sharrr- sharr-sharr-sharr(their impersonation). I guess my sh and r sound is over pronounced then

All this reminds me of Sid Caesar! For those who don't know him, he would fake talk languages he doesn't speak, quite a bit like Adam does here. He did this back in the 50s on early TV, and you can find him doing his languages routine on KZfaq on an clip from Whose Line Is It Anyway?

I went to his gig last week, he did a shirt signing afterwards and I told him that I was from the same village that Captain Cook was from. He said that he'd once got a tweet from someone telling that he was 'fucking shite' and was really insulted until he realised it was a reference to that joke!!! And yes we do hehe and he is funny!!

Is that how most Australians pronounce Yorkshire? I say the "shire" in its entirety, rather than as just "shir".
@Yndraman7 жыл бұрын
Adam said it correctly. All the '-shire' suffixes on county names are pronounced that way
@k-leb46717 жыл бұрын
Yndraman Like how Greenwich is pronounced "Grenich"? It's so weird to me that a lot of place names are pronounced in a really abridged way.
@Yndraman7 жыл бұрын
Yeah same sort of thing. It's probably due to the place names being in existence since the Anglo-Saxon days of Old English, and in some cases they possibly even adapted the place names of the original Bretons.

Absolutely true, this "Hans, Lars! Come quickly!"-stuff sounded like, and was probably intended to sound like, a swede with little experience of speaking English. I actually lived in Australia as a kid, but as my family moved back to Sweden when I was about 7 yrs old, my English accent quickly faded from semi-Australian to some mediocre variant of Scandinavian-paneuropean. Habit and regular exposure is everything when it comes to languages and accents! A good day and a can of Norrlands to you.
