@xGoDxAkUmAx Its not about a cheating mouthpiece - it is technique. I had a couple of lessons from Adam recently and last week I hit a double c for the first time in 40 years of playing, and my useable range on a gig has gone up one third. I now understand that if my technique is good, mouthpiece choice is about what tone I want, not about getting high notes. It is a shame that all you can say about this incredibly talented girl is to accuse her of cheating.

Fantastic. I think players like Natalie are great because they were never given the opportunity to believe that upper register playing is hard or that it takes "time to develop" which is totally wrong. Great teachers teach students how to play upper notes and dont let them "develop" when you do that what really develops are bad habits... Either shoving the horn into the face or blasting to get upper notes out. Fantastic student and fantastic teachers.

I quit the trumpet years ago because my teacher in college had me analyzing everything I was doing. As a result, I developed stage fright and completely lost interest in playing music. But, I did manage to line the pockets of many a trumpet clinician, so maybe something good did come out of it.

What a superb talent. On the other hand, how many others would have these abilities if we were exposed to the level of teachers she has been exposed to from day one? Trumpet pedagogy doesn't exist for the vast majority of beginner trumpet players. It's a shame and a wrong that needs to be corrected in the next ten to twenty years. Do some good, guys. Go give some masterclasses to beginning trumpet players in your area. We need to work together to raise better generations of trumpet players.
