I get the impression that Alex is a Mythbusters fan and was probably just as over the moon to be showing off his "toys" to Adam as Adam was to be on the set. Which is, of course, super fun to watch them interact in that context.

Adam and the Tested crew do a lovely job of showing you all the careers we don't know but the passion is still very much visible in the movie.

Indeed. It's that level of passion and care that everyone seems to be putting in that makes us hopeful for this to be a good movie, as this level of love and dedication has been severely lacking in most Hollywood productions the last few years.

Honestly, Adam's bts videos are getting me more hyped and hopeful than the normal hype sources like Akroyd or Murray saying it's good. They lost a lot of goodwill when they hyped up 2016, and we know they're contractually obligated to hype this one up like that one, but Adam is looking at all of this as a regular fan, not someone under contract, so if he's excited about it, then it sends us the message that we should be excited too.

Amazing. The one detail that jumped out at me right away was the electrical wiring on the outside of the walls. My grandparents lived in a much smaller farmhouse here in Saskatchewan and the house was build when a lot of places still didn't have electricity(not sure when it was built, pre 1940 for sure) so at the time there was no thought of light switches or light or power sockets, even the phone line. When all that was added, the wire was literally stapled onto the wall in most cases where as the house I grew up in was built in the 1950s and already that was integrated into the walls. For me, seeing that in this set really tells me the age they were going for with the house.

I *love* the attention to detail with the very old, not perfectly smooth panes of glass in the windows. That tiny detail is absolutely *critical* to making the set feel like a genuine old house.

I appreciate the effort that the set builders went through to get so many details right, I'm hoping and praying we get the ghostbusters we deserve (and not the one they tried to pass off back in 2016...) Gotta say I love the enthusiasm that Adam has for these pieces of cinema, its contagious and gives me that hope!

Yea, the actors lost a lot of goodwill with the fans when they helped promote 2016 (I know they were under contract to do so, but that doesn't change how we feel about it), so hearing them say the same things about Afterlife rings a bit hollow. Adam is under no such contractual obligations and is looking at all of these things through the eyes of an excited fan like us, so it comes off as a lot more genuine. Anyone who is familiar with Adam from his Mythbuster days also knows that he doesn't fake his enthusiasm for things, so if he's excited about something like this, then he has reasons to feel that way, which kind of gives us "permission" to get equally excited for it.

The love they have put into the details for this movie really makes you excited for Ghostbusters Afterlife. You can see and feel that they went to great lengths in order to give respect to what came before, then build upon the established lore. Kudos to all involved in this! 🙂

Okay, so this may have already been mentioned, but Stantz put a mortgage on his family home to get startup money. Ecto-1 ended up in the barn of this house. I feel like it would have tied the story together nicely if they had worked that small detail in somewhere. Maybe Ray and Egon spent some time out there continuing their research, Ray did other things, but Egon settled in.

Looking at the exterior and interior, you'd think the production team had just bought a real house and moved it to the location on the hill, then decorated it. You'd never think the whole structure was constructed from scratch. That's crazy. The attention to detail is awesome.

Why is it that set decorators can get pre-war farmhouse wood trim and finishes correct in six weeks and custom homebuilders take two years to turn out mediocre dreck they insist are crafstman/farmhouse style touches? Serious kudos to Alex and the rest of his crew. That set looks so much like my grandfather's family's farmhouse in rural Illinois (although it was admittedly in more livable condition) that if they hadn't shown the upstairs I could have believed it really was an old house they'd just weathered/messied/retouched here and there for the movie!

So cool. I've photographed many old abandoned farm houses and even the original Kent farmhouse (that is still standing) used in the first Superman film. These guys are magicians building up this set. The aging is so perfect. Beautiful job.

What a great set. Thanks for sharing Adam! No where near as close in detail, I worked at Radio Shack in the 80's and got a chance to walk through a store set and meet Bill Bixby. The set was detailed with the latest parts on the wall and systems on shelves. Absolutely fascinating and immersive experience. Awesome virtual experience!

I've got my fingers crossed on this one... I grew up loving GB1 and GB2 and watching them all the time, as well as the Real Ghostbusters, and Extreme Ghostbusters series. When I saw the first trailer and everything in it I was hyped... Now I just hope it lives up to the hype.

I happened upon this house while driving in rural Alberta. Had a bunch of signs nearby that said things like "THE DEAD WILL RISE" and "THE MOON WILL BECOME AS BLOOD." I knew they were filming Ghostbusters in the province to I snapped a few pics. Kinda regretting not getting a closer look... Wild stuff!

This was a fantastic segment, I started as a carpenter back in '82 and was discovered by a local director and producer in northern Virginia and hired me for local indie movies since.

Suggestion for the next time Adam gets to do something like this: At the end of the video, when he is talking to the guest about how they came into this line of work, maybe a cutaway to movie credits to show where this person would be credited for their work on the movie. I still watch movie credits and have no idea what a Best Boy Grip is...

In a film crew, there are two kinds of best boy: best boy electric and best boy grip. They are assistants to their department heads, the gaffer (in charge of electricals), and the key grip (lighting and rigging), respectively. In short, the best boy acts as the foreman for the department.

Right at the end as they wrap, Adams eyes go to the tool harness and from that glance you just know he had a whole long conversation about not just what was in / on it but the construction or who made it too!

Truly wish I had of had the opportunity to be the creative guy building sets..., at 48 years old found out I had a skill at carving polystyrene that I never knew I had..., had heaps of fun carving and making extra large stuff for 3 years..., but alas the businesses here in Australia just didn't understand the concept...., an opportunity missed by myself that still sits heavy on my heart 15 years later. I can only think how much fun these guys have creating these sets..., thank you for sharing and looking forward to watching the movie.

I love complicated sets like this but in particular Egon's house is pretty much exactly like my Dad's house! Old junk everywhere, tables encrusted with half-done fix-it projects, quick foods when you forget to eat... Also I gotta say it made me laugh as a vintage dealer when the Mum was saying he left them no assets, meanwhile standing in a huge house packed with $100k+ of eBay inventory... 🤣

Of course, this brand new building looks old, but did it SMELL old? Adam, will you show us some of the techniques used to age and distress a set and props like this?

I was wanting to learn about that as well. Like the crackled paint on the window frames, or the distress of the mirror. And I'm assuming the stack of books was actually a foam mold with a pole running through the middle.

@@TJRohyans I wouldn't be so sure... using real books would save a ton of work for anything that would be seen close up. They certainly may have hollowed them out and replaced paper with foam to make it lighter, but the covers themselves could be from legitimate books.

I am blown away, and it's crazy that the house looks so old and decrepit, but it was brand new and dressed to make it look like and old farm hour

Honestly- this is an actual 'behind the scenes' where set dressing shines. I learned a ton about the art of film continuity through thing short video!

I remember going up to the circus for my kid to film, and we went up the hill to the house, because she was going back and forth in the car. I got to stand inside the house, and I was terrified to even move, because I didn't want to mess anything up, and at the same time I felt like a kid. The fact that they built that whole house is wild. The barn also was built, actually, it was a barn they apparently found by Acme Alberta and it looked just like it does now, took it down piece by piece and put it back together.

I remember as a kid in the mid-1990s I saw both movies got hooked and became a GB fan from that day forward I remember using a wooden cooking spoon and a bookbag to fashion a proton pack man good times

Wow 👏 this is really exciting. I love Ghostbusters. Bought the toys for my children and they became fans. I dressed my son up as Egon for Halloween 🎃 one year. He was adorable. He happens to my favorite character. Thanks for sharing 👍
