I loved my Nova! It was my first car! It was a C reg 2 door saloon nothing flash but I always remember my first car and being able to go anywhere! Pimping the stereo out doing all my own repairs etc. Them were the days. I often think it would be good to get another one for nostalgia but the 2 door saloons are so few and far between in good condition with reasonable miles in good nick. I hope you and your daughter really enjoy going for sweets and bimbling around in it. I’m also in the north east👍

This is why i love my mk1 golf Gti cabriolet, so raw and basic, it’s not fast by todays or any standard, but a great car to drive and it has that retro cool about it 😎 and the Bonus is the roof is the hydraulic version 😃if we ever get any sunshine to put it down ☀️🤣👍🏻 Totally a summer car now it’s 32 years old, costs nothing to own, run or insure it I have other cars to go fast in 😉

The more I see this Nova the more I’m wanting one regardless if it’s the 1.3 or whatever motor, the Corsa hasn’t and will never replace the character of the Nova 👌🏼

Of all the cars I’ve had, my 1995 MR2 GT was the most fun. Light, basic, 170bhp, well balanced and involving! Plus it made a great noise when you buried it. New cars are soulless in my opinion. I like it as basic and raw as possible

Took me back to the days when I had my 1.3 sr, it had around 75 bhp and I remember having 5 of us in it in the fast lane of the motor way doing 115mph absolutely no chance if we had of crashed. I now drive a RS4 B8 and the speeds that can get to is frightening. I think you should keep the sr alloys on it looks mint.

It’s the sort of thing you have a bit of a blast in and still stay within legal speeds so it’s all good. A friend of mine has a Swing with a GTE engine. Such a rare sight now to see any Nova .

My neighbour had a light/silverish blue SR Nova back in the day, had his mates in Saxo’s and Punto’s clogging up the road on a daily basis, a bit of a nightmare for the locals but me as a young lad growing up I bloody loved it! Car meets were a daily basis outside my window😆🙌🏼

Great video Adam. I used to sell the Mark 1 versions new between 85 and the early 90s before they changed to this body shape and grille, Adams & Gibbon (remember them?) Minories (remember them?) and Reg Vardy's (remember them?). The SRi wasn't a huge seller, it was up against the might of the XR2 and others, but a great option all the same. I was lucky enough to enjoy a succession of GTEs, at least 4, and they were flying machines. I've gone all nostalgic now.

What a flashback to my 16 year old 1998 self. Keep it as standard as possible because that truly is a dying breed you have there. A very nice motor & well done 👏

Novas are such a great laugh to drive, they don't need tonnes of power, they get scary if they're too fast. You highlighted one of the things that used to really annoy about my novas, the steering wheel being offset, that and the frame for the front quarter light window which seems always cut your view in the mirror in half! Look like a great little motor 🍺👍

First car was a Nova 1.2 Luxe with 117k miles on it! Replaced it with a blue Nova 1.4SRi K124 WBM, absolutely loved that car but it's long gone now! Also got a chance to drive a GTE and it felt super fast!

Ah ! Moor Lane brings back memories, at one time you could get all 4 wheels off the deck before they flattened the jump !. I once put my Mk2 Rs2000 in the ditch between the 90 left & 90 right !!

Lovely that. Sounds identical to my old 1.4 Sr I had years ago. I also had a 1600 gte loved that car. Just something about them. Personally I would change them wheels to something bigger and chuck some bigger brakes on. Job done

My first motor back in 94 was an SR nova with the nova sport twin carbs and the induction kit fitted was a smashing wee motor. Totally different driving experience them old classic cars lol 😆

Love it! Had that front brake set up on my gsi back in the day, and with grooved discs and decent pads it would put you through the windscreen if you didnt have a belt on 🙃

I would have bought that if I’d had the money. I’ve watched my mate Barry build it from day one. Great little Nova! I’ve got a GSi myself which I’ve owned since 2004! Been off the road since 2005 mind! Still runs spot on, just not got around to sorting it yet!! ONE DAY LOL 😂

Loved novas back in the day nova sr was my dream car as it was insurance friendly and looked the business sadly I bought a Renault 5 gt turbo and was skint then on... insurance and always in garage getting repair work..sold it and bought a fiesta 1.4s but wish I would of bought a nova..great content Adam keep up the great channel..best wishes

Awesome car mate. I was at vboa last year in mine and came home on the b roads that's where they come alive. You don't need loads of power to have fun.

My first car in 1991 was an 86' Nova SR. Cracking little first car. Before I could even drive it was lowered, 3 spoke alloys polished, K&N & Remus exhaust fitted. Obviously bigger stereo. It was bomb proof. Bought it for £3k from Boss's wife with 23k miles, kept it mint for about 5 years & sold it on for £2k. Then got a Clio 1.8 16v. Great great memories.

The first car I got on video was a mk2 escort and he seen me recording and was hanging the arse end out round a tight corner right next to me. I got a nova on my phone,they were guna stop thinking I was a Marshall😂 loads of them did!!

Really want a Nova now I grew up as a kid looking up to the local boy racers in theirs. I can remember a c20let converted one wheel spinning in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th. I would get some sore of alarm or dead switch on it as well, too many have been stolen using the hazard switch trick.

What ya mean when I was younger... I still am... lol. Get those 16s found and fitted then find the Courtenay Calibra turbo brakes on the front. Rear drums are good enough. Yes get some coilovers, best thing I did with mine.

that engine sounds OK, just get it set up on dyno, that will probably be all you need to do strip the back brakes + check both wheelcylinder pistons are free, they can give you a "dead" feel to the brakes, + adjusting them up while in there helps nova 1.3s used to go right off the rev counter in standard form, but sometimes spat the camfollowers out, had to poke a few of them back in place on the roadside back in the day

back in the day my mate had a black sri nova on the steel wheels, felt a quick car back then it went well, had a few good blasts with it against my clio 1.8 16v. always fancied a nova with a redtop engine in it.

Great for a McDonalds I always found, that ledge on the dashboard passenger side and the way the glove box hinged down for drinks. Unrivalled.

I remember the GTE nova they were great cars you as you say you don't need lots of bhp to enjoy yourself.

Had a white k reg nova GSI in the late 90s. Got a bank loan for 2 grand to buy it 🤣 Was expensive at the time for a young lad. Always wanted them popular speedline wheels for it,but could never afford them. Wish I still had the car though,probably bean tins now.

coil overs and a set of bike carbs will suit this best 110 120 mph in that your dead if it goes wrong i’ve got a 130 bhp mk1 golf gti cabrio it’s terrifying over 90 mph that’s on coil overs mildly tuned great fun

My auntie had a white J reg GSI when I was doing my lessons back in 96’. She always promised me a drive…. I never got one as a tractor wrote it off for her

I mind the days when most cars didn't have power steering and my cortinas were like tanks when not moving but no problems steering once moving great days

16 inch Irmscher soft stars are 4 by 100 and they were the wheel to have on a nova back in 2000

I see one of them the other day but was set up for hill climbing with a bike engine in it 😂 was very low with little wheels lookt amazing

Great little thing, after a Corsa B myself, Nova's more than I can reach. It only need sensible mods nothing crazy. 50 in that feels like 100+ in a modern car. No massive power means got to work for it, plenty of gear changes etc. Just something fun you can potter about in to. Anything original keep, parts getting rare and the way prices are, it's better than money in the bank 👍

Back in the day I had a 1.2 merit saloon if you were prepared to pedal them they were a great going wee car for all the engine size of them and easy on fuel

Had a yellow nova sr when I was 22 sold it and bought a white manta gte 👌

Hope the hazard switch has been modified I remember if you turn them upside down the ignition light would come on and bump start them 😂

Such a great little cars 👍🏽I had a white little 1.2i nova lux on a k reg had blue sr/Sri interior it was a great little car £15 a week to get to work flat out everywhere a Volvo hit it one icy morning over the back wheel bent the rear beam an caved the quarter panel in I was gutted for it to be written off knowing what I know now I’d of rebuilt it

IIRC there are some jump blocks on the back of the cluster that you need to move to the correct configuration for the 1.6 engine to fix the rpm guage.

I think you can put corsa electric steering on the nova mt! Good video mt
