Hold your breath longer. freedive deeper. Have longer dive times. It all begins with static breath hold. Learning how to hold your breath longer has so many applications and will improve your freediving. In this video I talk about static breath hold training, how to begin training and all the applications that longer breath holds will have in freediving.
Learning how to hold your breath longer is one of the absolute foundations of freediving training. Once you're comfortable with longer static holds you will quickly find yourself growing more comfortable when you dive and especially when you spend more dive at the bottom.
Holding your breath longer is a process of getting used to the sensation of long breath holds. High carbon dioxide, contractions of the respiratory muscles and hypoxia. These sensations aren't comfortable at first and so the best way to train is to go slow, don't push yourself and allow yourself to grow accustomed to breath holds gradually.
