MORE CUSTARD IS HERE!
This is the latest performance mod that I have installed on my Ford Focus RS MK3 and it is the roll restrictor aka torque mount aka rear motor mount from Mountune!
The Mountune roll restrictor is a direct replacement of the stock part. The stock part is OK for stock applications and when not driving hard but beyond this it could do with improvement. The stock mount/restrictor uses a relatively small rubber bushing that is quite soft so absorb maximum vibration but this has the undesired effect of allowing a lot of movement which is bad for performance.
As torque and power are increased over standard, the Focus RS mount will struggle to absorb the forces involved, especially with aggressive driving, meaning wheel hop could be an issue - think launch control!
This part is crying out for replacement if performance is what you are after!
Engineered and manufactured from high strength aluminium with a quality and much larger polyurethane bushing made by Powerflex, the Mountune roll restrictor upgrade provides improved rigidity for less movement under load while being specifically engineered not to add too much NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness).
I show the process of removing the stock mount / restrictor and then how to install the new Mountune roll restrictor, starting with the removal of the bolts before installing the Mountune part as well as a bit of extra advice that actually comes from Revo!
The installation didn't take too long and wasn't too difficult although working in that area under the RS is a bit of a tight squeeze and one of the bolts (the one at the top of the mounting plate) was a little tricky to remove and impossible to torque to spec - if you look up any other guides, you will see that they gloss over this point rather conveniently!
I am very pleased with the new mount / roll restrictor and will be sharing my thoughts on it soon in a future video but needless to say I think it is definitely worth doing!

I got the boomba 2 piece one instead of the mountune. Pretty much all same install and what not except I never had to put the copper grease on lol. But these all make a huge difference in the fell of the car. Awesome video, mate, you always give great descriptions of what exactly you are doing with these installs!

nice job. that Mt mount looks like it has zero compliance compared to the std Ford mount! I would imagine you are now going to get some vibes through the floor now! Why is it called a roll restrictor? is that just a con to by MT to make people think its going to improve cornering? all it does is make the engine location firmer surely? why not call it an "uprated lower engine mount"? Come back and let us know what you think, or have you removed it already?? ha ha
