About Life Below Zero:
Life Below Zero follows six people as they battle for the most basic necessities in the state with the lowest population density in the United States. Living at the ends of the world's loneliest roads and subsisting off the rugged Alaskan bush, they battle whiteout snow storms, man-eating carnivores, questionable frozen terrain, and limited resources through a long and bitter winter. Some of them are lone wolves; others have their families beside them. All must overcome despairing odds to brave the wild and survive through to the spring. And when spring arrives in Alaska, rising temperatures bring mounting challenges as they work to prepare for yet another winter.

Knowing how to live this way is actually vital information. Current world is completely dependant on technology, which is extremely fragile. Something happens and technology is useless for an extended period of time, people will not have a clue of what to do. People are losing all knowledge of the things that got us to this point. The tried and true fundamental skills of survival, the most important knowledge a human can have.

It's great that the family has this documented for prosperity to show them that they participated, and record it in their memory to connect them to the land. They'll always be drawn to for those reasons, and won't have to wonder why. Beautiful. More importantly, the inate knowledge like the older child of knowing and respecting where sustanance comes from.

I must have seen a dozen or more times on shows like this, a small sow with cubs walk up to full grown, giant alpha male grizzly bear, whip them like a rag doll, and then sit calmly and eat the salmon or caribou he worked so hard to catch right there in front of him. And he’d better not take a step towards her cubs, or he’ll get it even worse. Momma bears are not to be messed with! These very same grizzly bears walked the earth thousands of years ago along with 700 lb. Saber Tooth Tigers, standing over 4 ft at the shoulders on all fours. We all know how that ended. Respect!

Jesse Holmes. I do admire those that choose this kind of lifestyle, the harsh realities & one certainly has to survive or die - cudos to you. I was born in the Country & the worst time of growing up was Winter time with frosty icy conditions, NOT like what your Winters you face every day. I believe your body and soul benefits greatly from a clean living environment, so may I wish you safe travels & a happy life.

Good for the parents teaching there kids . in the end these are survival skills. You never know when you will need them. In this day and age most ppl and kids loose it if they cant find a phone charger or wifi connection. Me and mine hunt fish camp grow our own food and we know what to eat in nature and what not. They know how to draw blood and stitch someone up as well as put in an iv.
@bailyslife9923

If we have to grow and catch food to survive, where you gonna find IV meds and equipment. And why on earth would anyone need to take blood? Gonna test it in our makeshift lab in the woods, Gilligan's Isle style? I don't understand it. I taught my kids critical thinking and that as long as they don't panic and keep thinking, they can get through about anything. Omg- it would be fun to put our kids in a survival scenario reality show and see who fares better. I'm putting my money on yours! 🤣🤣🤣

The amazing part to me is that not only have these kids been taught these skills, day in and day out they actually cultivate what they have been taught into their own competencies. It's one thing to have been exposed to something it is a whole other beast to live the lifestyle and it be second nature to you. It is not a leisure activity or knowledge that is tucked in the recesses of their minds, but real skills that they have to call on every single day. It takes more than just the skill. It takes fortitude, perseverance, tenacity and discipline to live that lifestyle for an extended amount of time. This is way more than camping with the boy scouts!
