The edgy hedgey, Shadow The Hedgehog!! The fan favourite and my personal favourite.
In this episode of Old vs New I tackle a drawing from 2005 and attempt to bring it forward to the year 2020.. Do I succeed?

Really appreciate the fact you've said "cheapest" because that doesn't devalue your artwork if it's high quality that's down to the workman not the tools.

Exactly some people spend hundreds of dollars on CopIcs while I just have ohuhu markers and if I work hard enough it would be the same as as a expensive artwork and it feels better and boosts your self esteem knowing you did the artwork with cheap supplies

RMBart there is someone in my class that draws like once a month and pays 1000 of dollars for CopIcs and she isn’t even that good she needs to work on her fundamentals instead of coloring

I prefer the "new" version, myself. Probably because it's colored. And I swear that one day I'm going to figure out how to get a SUPERMAN drawing of your's on my wall.

Its nice to see a good improvement over the years and its also nice to see that even starting out, if your not as great as some people are now, everyone progresses differently and there will be a day, if you stay consistent, where you will be better.

You could do him around a fire with similar shading. The colors for a fire and his glow would match really well. And it would also give it a dramatic look

Awesome piece, definitely prefer the new one, the colouring is so smooth - almost velvety! I love the shadow cast from his arm in particular, weirdly. Haha.

I think you still have room to grow your love for art.Refined does not mean it cold because I take it as using your time to care for the art work on a deeper level with new skills and techniques.The love never really dies it’s that the perspective changes.

The 2005 one is an almost PERFECT recreation of the lineart of the sa2 artwork. But the new one is of course way more impressive.

The skeleton underneath the drawing helps get the basic shape before adding all the details. I do this with my OCs and it has helped a tremendous amount to get proportions and foreshortening right.

I love the 2020 side, it fixes a few of the old problems from the original like Shadow appear to be to tall and skinny. I was instantly cheering when you made him like most of the modern versions of him; a thicker body and make him a bit shorter. If you sold this as a print I would definitely buy it the coloring is beautiful and would look awesome against a city night background.

So i used to restart the whole drawing if i made a mistake that I couldn’t get rid of this guy is so inspiring and thanks to him and me my drawings have gotten so much better and im still nowhere close to as good as him but ima keep practicing and if my drawings end up changing my life i owe it all to him because if it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t be getting much better at my work and i wish you all well👍😁
