Can also add sprouts to chicken or livestock feeds as a treat. I've done this to give our small flock & goats some fresh greenery in winter.

During lean times I used an empty jar, a cut piece of an old tee shirt and 1/8 cup lentils. We used the sprouts in all sorts of ways: as a salad, in sandwiches and sometimes with corn. Crunchy and fun to eat!

400% MORE nutrients in sprouts than their full grown counterparts. Great in salads; on sandwiches &/or stir fry. Consider alfalfa, mung beans, adzuki, garbanzo, green pea seeds

I'm so glad you did this video Jinne. Been Sprouting for Years in Jam Jars on the Windowsill, with a Black sock over them, to keep the light out. Sprouts are so good for you. I think Green Lentils are my Favourite, their nice & Peppery. TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶

Yes!! I love sprouts! I love alfalfa sprouts, and others. But this is a great idea. I do keep sprouting seeds on hand. And you don't have to have direct sunlight--you can sprout in the dark!

Great video! I think sprouting seeds are such an important part of being prepared. They are really important for apartment dwellers or anyone that can’t plant or forage.

Hi Jinne, today I went to town to a thrift store and bought a dozen pint jars for making meals in jars. I'm going through your old videos for your recipes and I already have over half a dozen written down. Plus I came up with a couple of my own, one being beef barley soup.

Years ago I worked for a soup & salad restaurant. And we used alfalfa sprouts on salads and sandwiches. I didn't know what they were at the time. But, my husband was not going to eat grass. Lol. I may try making them for me.

I DO NOT like mung bean sprouts at all, I always pick them out of my Chinese food if I can’t request no sprouts. (They taste like dirt to me!) But then, I’m one of those people that thinks cilantro tastes like soap. I’m willing to give other sprouts a go. Thank you for the tutorial on how to grow them!❤🇺🇸

I'm not a huge cilantro fan either... I can handle it if it's just a little in salsa, but not too much of it. The smaller the sprouts I think they taste better, if they get too big, they aren't as good.

OK, question ... once sprouted, do you eat the entire thing, bean and all? I've seen people who trim the sprouts to eat. Do the beans/lentils continue to grow if cut? Thanks for showing how easy it is to grow bean sprouts!

Doing some research online about sprouts, some sources said to only eat them cooked, because of the risk of bacterial issues. But back when I used to grow sprouts all the time, we ate them raw with no problems. Is this a recent thing, or is it not really an issue? I loved having fresh sprouts, and would like to get back to having them more often.
