The movie version of the Addams is much more accurate to how they were portrayed in the original cartoons, very grim and cold. But I honestly prefer the warm, friendly TV Addams, with Morticia as a gothic but happy 60's sitcom mom who loves animals, and Gomez as the friendly sitcom dad who just wants to do the right thing, and deeply loves his wife in a way that's a lot more physical than what you usually saw in sitcoms at the time. They're very likable.

Thank you! I tried to find articles online comparing the two, but they just compare the two movies, or the show with the Munsters... Wednesday was too much in the movie.

Interesting how today that the Addams Family holds up as being not so much whacky, but more like flippantly cynical, mildly macabre, somewhat hipsterish, and even to some degree, promoting the ideas of heavy metal.

I am a pretty conventional person but I used to love the Adams Family and the Munsters when I was a kid. I think it appeals to my quirky side. It really does hold up. I like that it is dark but not twisted. I don't do twisted.

Info for fans:: episodes of the original show are on the dailymotion site, no links. . So many fun/cool stuff... Lurch, Thing, the Victorian antique furniture and weird decorations, the Kitty(lion), Wednesday and her pet tarantula, Morticia snipping roses off the thorny stems. .

*I prefer this over the movies any day. But, I do enjoy the movies they entertain me. But I love this series so much. I have them on DVD, along with the movies on DVD. I'm super excited about the new animated movie coming out in October (Halloween) of this year.*

I enjoyed this as a kid. But Raul Julia will always be the definitive Gomez for me, despite the fact he looks nothing like his source from the comic. His personality is just perfect.

i think spanish was the key word there, even the dance scene from the sequel really shows what the inspiration was behind the film version's dynamic between the couple. they were more depicted like latin/spanish lovers. the tv series couple is more like quirky campy friendly approachable family next door

These are the best of Addams , black white is better. Classic. This or Munsters . I like them both. The sound here was it in a well. Cause the sound is nuts. Laugh track . Sounds like in a well .

Did anybody notice that Thing open the box to pass her the phone you noticed. the box it's on a table with four legs. How could that happen, an animated hand with nobody attached underneath the tiny table. That certainly wasn't lurches hand..huh??
