I did Debbie's villain monologue for a audition for a local play. I got multiple parts (five in total) and the director said it was one of the best monologue auditions he had ever seen. I still think it's one of the best villain monologues in any film I've ever seen. Joan Cusack's performance is perfectly maniacal and might actually be one of her best roles.

There's a post I saw that was along the lines of "If Debbie found it in herself to stop being self-centered, she would have realized that the Addams were her people." Like yeah, Morticia would keep sniping at her because of the whole pastels thing, but why COULDN'T pastel gothic be integrated into their extended family? They probably even would have continued to encourage her to keep trying to kill Fester because that's what the Addams DO.

@@bananamanchester4156That's my take, too. Morticia knows how to go for the throat (in multiple ways lol), and knew to attack Debbie's fashion sense. I think the reason this feels like a better Addams Family movie is that, well, the family is actually complete now. The first film had Fester being "an impostor", the kids suspecting him and the whole drama with Gomez was about trying to reconnect with him. While from a storytelling perspective that's all good it's still baggage that gets in the way of the family dynamic. Now every member of the family is setup, so they can just be themselves and play better off each other.
@deskish39307 ай бұрын
i think the reason this movie worked better than the first one is that Fester was allowed to be Fester in this one rather than a conman trying to trick people

I always kinda wanted to see alternate version where she just joins the family lol. Like by all means she would have fit in. No one seemed to care during her speech that she murders. I think the fact Debbie doesn't get caught fits in with the Addams not dying in that in reality she would have been caught and they would have died. The irony she would pick a person to kill who either can't die or hard to kill by normal means.
