Love the way these look and sound. So much style. My friend’s mom had this generation with flip-down wood tray tables and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I also echo your sentiment about the “alternative” performance cars being hilarious fun and great value - I feel that way about my V70 R for sure.

This video nails the experience I've had on the head. Mines not perfect, I didn't know what it was 5 years ago, but It is the best freaking car ever. So fast, sleek and cool looking. I have twice what I payed for it in maintenance costs. its never let me down and makes me feel like a million bucks every time I'm behind the wheel. Its a black on black 2002 XJR and will be in a music video I'm releasing to the world on the "Stepper Rocks" youtube channel in the next couple months.

@ Troy When I was a teen in the early 1990s there was a tv show called: who’s the boss! In that show the Rich woman and mother of the house had a Jaguar and I have associated JAGS with autumn leaves ever since. Let’s say the colorful leaves of New England or the North East. So I’m glad you started this video off with the car sitting parked in Autumn Leaves. My own saying Some people ZIG And some people ZAG BUT some people they do the JAG

@@gregdettling6693 An XJR with Chrome is a bit of a sleeper. It can out run a Porsche 996 up to 150 mph. Her in Germany most XJR have no Chrome on glas, it was an almost unknown option. Take good care of your XJR, they are going up in value ✌

Thank youu I’m delighted to get a message from you in Germany! It is an absolute pleasure! :) I badly wish to visit and see Germany and Switzerland and Austria someday as well as a few other areas of Europe near Germany. :) My family originally came from the Stuttgart area and south of there in Switzerland. My family name is DETTLING. About the XJR only I’m concerned with the level of quality as my old BMW seemed to have high quality with very few issues. This is really my only concern. Also, my BMW seemed a little more heavy and solid. But I can’t expect a Jaguar to feel the same with heavy steering and so on. About the silver Chrome I think that Europe and the U.K. were a bit more advanced and ahead of the U.S. and Canada in respect to fashion so while silver chrome was popular and classic here on Jaguars it was probably already seen as old fashioned in England and Germany, so Jaguar went with black in the English and Continental market. To seem up to date and newer. Here the average older Jaguar buyer that purchased a new Jag likely expected classic looking and wealthy looking ( to them ) and that meant it needed a lot of silver chrome if it was a large Jaguar sedan. Also, here in Canada and the U.S. people love the look of silver chrome on shiny black. Kind of a timeless iconic look. In Japan too they love that look on executive cars especially. I’m happy that you are happy with your XJR !!!! It gives me confidence for mine. Yes, these cars need to be taken care of. My 2003 BMW 320i ( from Japan ) was a bulletproof TANK but this Jaguar is not the same. It needs a bit more love and care I think! I’ll look for your video. :) Thank you!

@ German Interceptor 100 mph or a bit faster is enough for me. 180 to 190 km/h is enough for me to feel safe. lol or dangerous. lol Not just silver chrome on shiny black but I also have HEADLIGHT WASHER NOZZLES equipped in on the top of the front bumper. 4 little spray noddles in total. One for each head light. There is also an extra front windshield defogger / defroster feature available when I checked the front button cluster. At -20 to -30 oC in Canada it worked pretty good to keep the windows open and clear and the windshield was no problem at all. Back seats are also heated. :) I was told by the person I purchased it from that it was 90,000 USD in 1998 when first purchased. I think mine was fully fully loaded with a few extra options and accessories. Full sized spare tire with full sized rim in the back. :) But I’ll always miss and love German automobiles. :( :)

I have been a Jaguar fan for 59years since my father bought a 420G in 1972. It was in British Racing Green and was absolutely awesome for an 8year old boy in the cold North of England to see and ride in this magnificent car. Since then I have owned several XJ6 Series 2's, two V12 XJS's, a V12 S3 XJ, two V6 S Types and two XJ V8's. Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Lexus are dull, bland and boring. Keep up the great Jaguar content and I will remain subbed. I am also a Land Rover fan so again, great vehicles with character not problems!

Probably because they have hit rock-bottom in value and break all the time so generate lots of content in maintenance/repair videos. Source: I own an 2002 XKR convertible, 44k miles on it, so far i've had to fix leaks from the diff, gearbox, valve covers, power steering pump, octopus hose and I know some day I have to do the dreaded timing chain guides and tensioners and new O2 sensors and replace all the accessory pullies. The shock tower mount designs are garbage and had to be replaced with aftermarket PU designs made by a guy on the forums that improves the original design. Most of the suspension design, systems and drivetrain on the XJR and XKR are the same. I do wish I'd got an XJR instead because back seats are good because people can sit in them. There is an annoying high speed vibration in the steering I cannot completely fix for love nor money (bushings/alignment/high speed balance, new tires - and I really dont want to drop $$$ on new wheels for this car which btw uses a fucking weird bolt spacing and offset so there are almost no wheel packages for it), it hasnt dumped hydraulic fluid from the soft top latch on my head yet, but it will. The upside is I get to drive my 2000 miata (with $110k miles on it) a lot because the jag is so often broken and the miata just works. I know folks complain about BMWs being garbage but they are at least usually pretty solid for the first 100k miles. I love how the car looks and feels when its working but its getting to the stage where I don't really trust it to drive anywhere without embarassing me and I'm kinda done with it. So yeah they are cheap for a reason and the market doesn't lie. Old Lexuses (Lexi? Alan Partridge reference there) hold their value for a reason. Shame they are so dull. I should have bought a manual BMW GT car of some sort. Or just Supercharged the miata. So just dont forget, if you buy one of these at any mileage/age (I actually recommend getting one that has depreciated more at 100k miles - youll still need to do all this work but youll have more money left over to do so) you will need to: Do a very expensive or difficult timing chain repair. The front of the engine has to come off. all accessories belts and pullies have to come off. Replace the transmission connector o-rings and replace trans fluid watch the fuel pumps like a hawk - replacement is a pain in the bum. Change the fuel filter Most vacuum hoses are brittle plastic that have heat soaked - on the XJR, changing those is a supercharger out job. change the oil cooler lines - they are prone to break and leak after 20 years change the heater/coolant hoses rebuild the front shock mounts. Inspect the rears. Rear suspension mounts means dropping the rear subframe. Do not buy one with deferred maintenance. A 100k mile car owned by a responsible owner with a folder full of receipts who has done the majority of the above should really be considered FAR MORE than a low/mileage garage princess that hasn't. Your ideal seller will walk out to you with a crammed folder and say something like "I just want it to go to a good home". And ideally, buy one that has had the timing chains done and do a compression test before buying, especially in the UK, to check for nikasil cylinder liner damage, or get a post 2001 car. a pre-99 car should have had a NEW ENGINE from Jaguar due to that issue, so check for that in the receipts too. Im not saying don't buy one, Im just saying be wary of the hype, do your research, and be open to just not buying one at all if you can't find the "right" car. Never negotiate any deal you aren't willing to walk away from.

Because of the age I didn’t think it would get noticed just like some big old boat just like an old Crown Vic or something. Was I ever wrong !!!!! Way too much attention!!!! You need to remember that Ford owned Jag at this time and they worked closely together. Actually they let Jag do Jag for the most part and my hat goes off to ford for letting them do that. I presume at some point it was determined and decided that the North American market loves silver chrome especially with shiny black. And they probably thought the older buyer expected it on a JAG. classic jag look. This may have been seen as somewhat old fashioned in the UK. I prefer the silver chrome myself.

CATS I think was an option on any X308. I have them on mine. I don't have much time on the CATS yet as I've own the car for some months now but it's nice to turn it off on bad city roads to get a cushy ride but turn it on in the twisty roads and when I want a more stiffer driving experience(like a BMW). I am also looking to blacken out the chrome around the window, one day..

@ Troy Okay Troy my last message. I’m a bit heart broken at what mine is costing me so I want to say something nice about it. Somehow it really makes it worth it maybe. A high end British Luxury car with Italian taste and styling with a German transmission. And a little bit of American muscle. KIND OF LIKE ROCKY BELBOA IN A TUXEDO with Italian shoes and cranking German gears AND those old English chaps jackal and hide are taking turns behind the wheel. :) This car has a split personality and multi-ethnic. An English take on Italian inspiration under the control of solid German quality and precision under the free airy hands-off guidance of American sensibilities and practical classic V8 old school muscle.

They’re classy supercars that are now cheap in some cases with tons of information out there. You were ahead of the curve. Some genuinely love these cars but others are just exploiting them for click fishing, and they just need content. Then the ripple effect happens where rough examples are polished, photographed, and the copy jocks at Bring A Trust Fund get the cars sold for more than they’re worth, screwing up the market.

But look ringo you don’t talk German when it comes to cars do you? And we don’t have to talk Brit when it comes to these. The cat came from the Americas anyways . So maybe you guys got it wringing
