Kristy didn't have any addiction issues until a back problem. She was prescribed a pain reliever that would send her down a road that would last almost 20 years. Today she helps and gives back. Recording at the Hope Community Center in Amelia, Ohio.

This sounds like a grown up lady. I was addicted to a valium type drug when I was 30 years of age, I am now 70 . Never looked back and never fell back by the grace of GOD.

I work for TLC community health alliance and I do outreach. After a relapse I am now 2 years clean. I have a total of 4 years. I just wanted to say thank you for this video. Lifting the stigma with our city council, boards, police, etc., Is where it's at. I want to encourage further by saying we just bought our first home. I am working my dream job. I have my children back in my life fulltime. Life is more than I imagined. You are greater than the worst thing you have done. Remember that and take one day at a time. There will be set backs, challenges, and maybe relapse. The important thing is that you get back up and keep on pushing. Praying for the one lost and suffering tonight. Kristi please reach out to me on fb April Nicole Hughes messenger so I can have your contact info Incase I ever need it 🙏🧡🌻

Amazing, wonderful report. As an ex functional cocaine, alcohol, amphetamine, medication and heroin addict /long life journey/ . Last thing the pills and the heroin was But I AM CLEAN FOR 3.5 YEARS NOW. I love to watch the interviews and I do feel the struggle and the huge amount of work they invest in their recovery because it not easy but always possible and doable and never feel to ashemed to ask for help, this is the first step. Congratulations to everybody who fought and fighting out there. Hugs from Ireland. Susan

Doesn't matter how long, it's never to late your never too far down the road. Never! When you kick it you get to experience another life. Two for the price of one, that's pretty cool.

Great words of advice Kristy. I'm glad you used the word "decisions" rather than "choices" - a much more informed word.

Having a demon take over your body is exactly how it feels, looking back in retrospect. But whilst you're in the midst of addiction, you believe your own lies and excuses. Well done for getting out of that spiral, amazing lady x

How do you manage your pain now? I suffer from numerous spinal conditions, daily sciatica and other diseases. I am in chronic serious pain and everyday I feel like I barely survive. I use pain meds a prescribed but want to stop them because of the treatment and negativity involved. Im tired of the stigma. I fear being stuck in bed more than I already am. Any suggestions for me?
