Adding a DROTTO CATCH AND RELEASE to my Tracker

My friend Silas added a DROTTO CATCH AND RELEASE to my Grizzly 1754 Tracker. Took the boat to the lake to try the latch out.

Question: I installed this on my '96 Sea Ray 175 (4.3L w/Alpha Drive) and there's not enough room on the bow trailer ring to attach the original crank connector, but there is barely enough clearance for the safety chain. Is that sufficient??? 🤔

If it were me, I would try to rig up something that I could hook my strap to. Just wouldn't trust the Drotto alone.

Love the video. The question i have is what model of Drotto was that for the install. I have a slight V excel aluminum boat and i want to be sure i by the right one. I think it's the model -T.

I don't think there is but one model Drotto. It attaches to the bow hook. There should be enough room in your hook to attach your safety strap also. It make it so much easier for me to load my boat. I put a piece of orange tape on my trolling motor, in line with the front, to help me square up with the Drotto. Thanks for watching. Stay safe Pap

Don’t need a bungee. Just take the handle off while traveling.

I’ve been thinking about getting me one of them, ever get used to one you’ll never have another without it I bet. Is it still working like it supposed to?

Yes, Adam, still working great. I wrapped a piece of orange tape around my trolling motor at the front of my boat, so I can see when it's line up with the Drotto. Give it the gun, and it latches. My boat used to run up on the roller, but by the time I got to the front it had mooved back about a foot. I would have to reach back under and latch it an crank it back up. For a 74 year old man, that was a little rough. Makes it so much easier now. It's a good sturdy piece and I think you'll love it........Pap

I had one that would do that, they didn’t make those back then. I got so tired of winching it, I just took my chances one time and after it got up to the hook I’d leave it in gear and go up hook it and lock the winch then go back and cut it off HA HA..! I done that from then on with it. Any way look up a booma step from a place called boat EFX on the computer, they are nice, you’ll have your buddy making you one of them next. Thanks 👍🏼

$315.00 to $385.00 acording to where you buy them. I got mine from Bass Pro. I get gift cards for my birthday and Christmas, so I wait for sales there. Take care Layne. Pap
