Hey Paul… great to hear from you. Thanks for the great feedback on the adding an LED video. I’ve been wanting to add an LED to the old gal for a long time, but I found the videos out there a tad rushed and confusing. I haven’t fired up the old SHO yet. I’ve been replacing a rotted floor in a boat. Glad you’re still on the right side of the grass, and think snow!

Hi John… thanks for the + comments on the video. I had wanted to put an LED on the old Simplicity for years, but I couldn’t find a video that explained it in a way that I felt comfortable doing the job. Glad my explanation made sense. I’ll try and take some video in the dark this winter.

Hey Bribacock….(hope I got that right). To answer your question, I’m not sure. When I was doing my research, I saw one guy talk about trying a resistor, and having his LED blow up because he calculated wrong, and mis sized the resistor. That was enough to get me to go the capacitor route as I found several guys that had success with this. Sorry I can’t give you a better answer as I’m not an electrical engineer or anything. One piece of advice I would offer is to always wear safety glasses if you’re messing around with electricity, metal & glass. Thanks for the + comment,

Hey Gordon….First of all, I’m not an electrician, so I’ll give you the best answer I can. None of my snowblowers have a dedicated alternator. The power comes from the engine spinning and a coil that generates electricity That powers the spark plug. If your machine has a yellow wire coming off near the electric starter, then your machine also has a stator which generates additional electricity to run headlights or heated grips, depending on how big the stator is. If you have a yellow wire coming off your coil, I believe that is 18W. The newer the machine, and the bigger the engine, the more likely it is that it will generate enough power for both heated grips & headlight. It is my understanding that the yellow wire (18w) will definitely power an LED light if wired as shown in my video. Hopefully that answers your question, if I misunderstood your question, let me know, and I’ll try and give you an answer. Hey Bill…. Verbiage is my age showing through. Growing up in WI, I remember my family purchasing our first SnowBoy blower back in the 60’s. It was made by LawnBoy. It had a two cycle engine, and I don’t think there were any two stage machines available for home owners at that time, but I’m not positive about that. While you are exactly correct in using the term “Snow Thrower”, they’re all “Snow blowers” to me. Thanks for the + comment. @@blowingsnow4fun Amazing what gets people triggered these days. We always called them "Snow Blowers", in fact I used my Snow Blower to clear 15" of some of the wettest snow I've seen, here in Sussex, WI. yesterday and today. Great video!
