I'll show you how I made my rolling work table a little more functional by adding a shelf and a stack of drawers. I show how I add solid wood edging to plywood for the shelf and build a drawer stack from scratch using Brad's drawer technique from Fix This Build That.

I just came across this when looking for ideas on adding drawers to my own workbench and I have to say, even without the drawers, your workbench design is amazing. More refined than the typical shop workbench, which is important IMHO. Your workshop should be inviting and pleasing to walk into. Great job with this one.

When I watched their videos, I saw that we had something in common. I love wood work. I'il stop by again to see what you're doing. I'm lucky to see a good master like you. If you want, you can do my work so I can be happy. You can contribute to my development with your comments. So I can develop more quickly.

About 3 years ago I built my workbench with the idea of using it for an assembly table. I have been looking for a way to store my tools someplace close to where I’m working. Thanks to you the next project is to get further organized by building drawers under my workbench. Thanks for the information on how to put this together.

Looks great. A little trick with installing the drawer front if you are going to add drawer pulls is to screw the draw fronts in place where the pull screws will go then screw the draw front on from the back and remove the screws on the front removes the need for clamps but also doesn’t risk moving the front while you pull the drawer out to put on the clamps 😁😁
@WhiteLabWorkshop
@WhiteLabWorkshop 4 жыл бұрын
That’s a great trick! I would have done that if I knew for sure how I was going to mount the pulls. I didn’t know if it was going to be one hole or two, so I did the clamping route. Funny enough, I decided immediately after!

From one woodworker to another...I feel your pain with how things go wrong in almost every project. I'm the same way I always end up having to fix something I did the wrong way. Its good to know I'm not the only one that makes mistakes. But I love your work and really enjoyed your video.

Thank you! I really like how it turned out. There were some mistakes I didn’t catch until too late that I was worried would affect how it looked, but they get hidden when the drawers are closed. I’m the only one who sees it with the drawers open, so I’ll let them be. I’ll leave it as an exercise to the viewer to figure out what those mistakes are 😉

Well done. In sizing width of drawers do you need to consider sliders on each side? Such as if opening is 18” do the drawer width need to be 1/4 or 1/2” “less in width due to drawer slides?
@WhiteLabWorkshop
@WhiteLabWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, you have to factor in the drawer slides when sizing drawers, if you have the style that goes on the side. Make sure to measure yours, but 1/2” for both seems to be pretty common.

Instead of using a piece of wood to help you when you are screwing the pocket screws buy yourself a corner jig from rockler that comes with two clamps and keeps the drawer sides totally square...all for $12 ....
