when pulling apart audio products, they're enclosed in a metal case for a reason, being interference. I suggest trying to keep the case mostly intact to keep interference low, or make something different yourself to shield the stuff

I had just been coming down here to say that. my Audio Interface isn't well shielded and it picks up my phone if its within 2 feet of it.

You can get thick copper foil at most art supply stores. It’s not to thick but you can create a shield that can slip around each of the electronics. Solder the ends together and add some thick parchment baking paper along the inside of the shield so as not to short out any components to the circuit board. You can attach a ground wire to the shield and in turn attach that wire to each circuit board ground. Hopefully thy are using a common ground between circuits. If not and you are still having issues a ground loop isolator in the Audubon paths might be in order.

but most of the modern day electronics are really well shielded, u should only do this if you find some noticeable difference the wattages are too low to produce a significant amount of noise

Nice panels! Perhaps a top panel made of the acrylic plastic Lucite might be nice. Using an CNC engrave you can engrave labels for the controls. When lit from an edge the engraved portion will glow with the color of the light source used.

My solution for the same task was to use PCBWAY to make basically that panel out of their thickest black fiberglass PCB material. That let me use the solder mask to make great labels. It’s plenty strong for the task and looks great.

This hiding of "of-the-shelf-electronics" in standardized units is all i ever wanted.... i only would go the route of doing it modular like in synthesizers, So if one piece changes, i dont need to redo the whole panel... but apart from that, this is an absolute dream

I've had this idea to make a desk out of that extruded aluminum stuff for a month or two now... seriously making me want to do it. Instead of a panel for gear like you're doing i'm probably gonna keep my stuff on the desk but I want to build a mount for my monitors and speakers into the desk. Originally I was just gonna make a stand out of wood or something but............

At the 2:00 minute mark you mention working off a scaled photo - which can be distorted depending on your focal length. A similar trick I’ve seen (if you have access to one) is using a flatbed scanner.
@camshand
@camshand 5 ай бұрын
that is true which is why I used a telephoto lens on my phone and held the camera far away to counter distortion. Simply because I don't have a scanner haha

While the see clear PLA works, would it be even better with clear resin printing ? It prints much cleaner, less lines. Probably not very noticeable, but still.
@camshand
@camshand 21 күн бұрын
Yes resin printing clear parts are the best as it cures each layer at one and solid. With FDM printing, light refracts off every path left by the nozzle so you really need to perfect solid infill paths and print speed for layer bonds. I don't bother too much and it comes out a milky white on my parts. Resin would be a lot easier to get clear prints

I'm currently testing it out. TBH haven't noticed any crazy levels of EMI, and when teenage engineering built the MOAD for Swedish House Mafia the didn't do anything fancy for RF. Worst case I'll find a way to mount the metal surround as well and just put white vinyl over it so it blends in.

Great point,I thought so too, but after chatting with one of the guys that built the MOAD with teenage engineering he said he's had no real interference issues removing audio gear from enclosures. So for now I'm going to test it and see, worse case I create a little bracket that'll hold the red metal outer over the electronics
