At long last, clearing the weeds from the borders either side of the steps to the lower quarry garden. Adding Alchemilla mollis and Matteuccia struthiopteris; commonly know as the Shuttlecock fern.

Wow, what a difference Sue. You have an amazing talent for garden design. Your Alliums are looking great. I can appreciate the hard work that you put in as my garden uses up a lot of my time and is nowhere near the size of yours.

Thank you 🙏. I’ve never yet put pen to paper to plan mainly because I don’t have the budget for any hard landscaping or big planting schemes but I do start with a rough idea for an area. I’m forever digging plants up and dividing them and so far most of them are thriving with just the odd failure. Yes very time consuming I just don’t video the neglected areas, for my eyes only 😉

Such a lovely well put together garden. Lots of complimentary plants, trees and landscaping. Loving Hosta Alley, mine have almost all been eaten by slugs again!
@thequarrygardener55784 күн бұрын
Thank you! The majority of the hostas are ok but I have a couple of dark green ones (can’t remember the names) which have thick green leaves and are usually the type the slugs ignore but they have been shredded this year, odd.

Oh Sue, I just love your gardens! You have inspired me to make our own small stumpery! I’ve wanted one since I saw King Charles’s stumpery in a book, and you were the push I needed. I’ve collected stumps from trees we have cut, and other old ones from our woods. It is on the shaded side of our driveway with some old maples as the background. We are in the process of moving ferns from other areas. Like you, we have no budget for this so we are sort of robbing Peter to pay Paul with existing plants. I’m 68 and my husband is 81, so it’s a summer long project! I love what you are doing with the sides of the stairs going to the bog garden. A very light, airy, almost fairy like impression. We just went through an oppressive heat/ humidity spell of one week, temps in the 30’s C with humidity making it feel close to 45C. Thankfully that is over. Continued best wishes with your gardening adventures and good health. Linda🇨🇦

That’s brilliant! King Charles’s stumpery is amazing, I don’t have any tree stumps but lots of decaying off cuts and tree limbs so trying to make interesting structures which are basically just stuck in the ground. My husband thought I was crazy at first but now he’s naming the structures, we have one called the crocodile 😊. I don’t know how you cope with the extreme heat, I’ve struggled in the past couple of days and our heat is no where near those temperatures. Good luck with your stumpery and thanks as always 🙏😊

Such a huge and impressive garden! The Impatient Gardener (also on KZfaq) has a combination of Catmint/Nepeta and Lady’s Mantel that I found inspiring. It might work well in your garden as well.

Just beautiful! I sure wish my Woodland acreage could look half as good as yours!! Oh the work you must go thru!🤦♀️ But just look at the outcome❤️ How long have you lived on your property? Thank you so much, Brenda🇨🇦
@thequarrygardener557813 күн бұрын
I’ve lived in this property believe it or not for 30 years but only started the development of the gardens when the pandemic hit and I retired from work. Prior to that I only really gardened one area which was a lawn with a small border then in 2020 I removed the grass and started the white garden. If only I had started this adventure when I first moved here could you imagine what it would be like now. No regrets though. Thanks for watching and for the lovely comments 🙏😊

Hello and welcome, yes I do everything myself. I can honestly say I’ve planted every plant you see on the videos. My husband is not a gardener but he does help with gravelling paths, lifting and carrying endless heavy bags of compost and stone, tree work and is the provider of many cups of tea and hearty meals to keep me going. Thank you for subscribing it’s very much appreciated 🙏😊
