In this video i am making a Full Leather Book with gold design.
The inspiration is medieval style book binding and also from a bookbinder by the name of Stopan.
The leather is goatskin that I have colored with medium Brown Leather diy and blind and gold tolled and with beautiful design. Endpaper is handmade lokta paper marigold. Paper pages are creme colored and sprinkled with Potassium permanganate which gives a nice contrast. Paper thickness is 120 gsm and 344 pages. Headband is islamic style . The books height is 22 cm and Width is 16cm.
If you are interested, you can find this leather book here: rb.gy/qjinxj

Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I would love to have a journal like this. On the other hand, the drivel I write is completely unworthy of such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I wonder how long this really took to make? Impeccable taste and execution.

@Tributary House Ltd. Actually, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I just write about my day. Sometimes I talk about what I think about what’s happening in the world, but I am as likely to talk about hemmorhoids. (spelling?). I am thinking about opening up today’s entry with how much I hate the new Mark Trail comic strip. The content hasn’t changed much from the last one, but now he has the “Don Johnson” didn’t bother to shave today look. I never liked the Don Johnson look. The men of my father’s generation shaved every day, had skin like finely tanned leather and smelled of Aqua Velva. The men of my own generation shaved in the shower once a week, no doubt whimpering to their razors “please don’t hurt me”. Anyway, as you can see, not profound at all.

I love how good craftsmanship and well made things are starting to become popular again, I absolutely love how beautiful the vintage stuff are. Modern style of things was developed to enable production of cheap, mass produced things. Mass production enabled much larger portion of population enjoy similar comforts which were previously only accessible to rich people. Books are just one example, cheaper, mass produced books enabled larger masses of people enjoy reading.

That would be like building an instrument and then hanging it on the wall. It’s a work of art in itself, but it isn’t complete until it is used. I guess the difference is that putting ink on paper is permanent. If you play sour notes on the musical instrument, at least they are ephemeral.
