In 1986, four of the sport's biggest names went toe to toe for the World Championship, with three still in the title hunt at the final race in Adelaide. What transpired was one of the most exciting championship finales ever, with the title decided by a mixture of skill, strategy and luck.
Good Year's advertising slogan at the time - "The Choice of Champions" - was to prove somewhat embarrassing for the company especially in the UK, given the way the title battle ended.

Fantastic films you are putting together. You seem a bit resentful of Prost in the context of Senna. I tend to think Prost was the deserving champion in 1983, 1984 and 1989 but there you go. Only a gnat’s whisker away in 1990 for that matter, but for being barged off the road at Suzuka. He was no saint, but none of them are at that level. Could easily have been a 7-time World Champion in my view. Peak Prost for me was 1989. Anyway keep ‘em coming.

Thanks, glad you’re enjoying them. In terms of Prost, the next video coming out should give a bit more context, but no not resentful at all. I believe was the fastest and most intelligent driver of the early and mid eighties, but was eclipsed by Senna in terms of raw speed and failure to deal with that led to the issues at Suzuka in ‘89 and consequently ‘90. Legitimately Prost could have won the Championship every year from 1982 to 1990, barring 1987 when Williams Honda was in a class of its own.
