Hey guys!! I fixed the sound issues and this is the re-upload! Fingers crossed there aren't any other errors! I was able to get my hands on the new Ninhydrin Palette from Adept before it sold out so I thought since I have it and the Plain Jane Palette I could make an in-depth swatch video with them! I also wanted to compare them to each other! More than anything I hope these descriptions and close ups help you decide if they are right for you and your collection or not! I hate to be the Debbie Downer but I can't help but feel like once you have 5-6 multichromes, you kinda have them all. Yes, there are subtle differences but you rarely see those on the eye.

I'm with ya. I bought this palette, 8 cliondah and about 25 from Looxi. Id say there's about 10 "colors" then it is just a matter of intensity.

I agree. I can think of about 5 or 6 I always see. Blue/black/purple shift... Red/orange/yellow shift.. Green/yellow/blue shift... Pink/gold/red shift.. I am too tired to think of any others. Am I wrong about the ones I described though? 🤣 I may be wrong on a shade or two but I definitely hit the nail on the head with a couple. Lol.

I totally disagree. There are so much possibilities between all shifts and undertones. I have more than 100 duochromes/multichromes and honestly, about 15/20 of them are very similar but the others are not. But I love eyeshadows. Obviously if you're not a big eyeshadow lover you won't care much about the differences.

I agree - and I think eyeshape can make that even more apparent. As someone with hooded eyes, my pretty, special shadows just don’t show enough in my day to day to see all the small differences. Doesn’t stop me from wanting them all, though!

@@traceymurphy4804 Same here. I have tons of special shadows from Devinah, TerraMoons, Clionadh... or I’d be all over either or both Adept palettes. But they aren’t cheap and I feel like I might already own dupes and perhaps even better dupes?

As someone who hasn't pulled the trigger on the multi chrome/special single shadows and is pretty overwhelmed by the selection, this is a great deal. It works out to be around $6 a shadow. That's super shock prices.

Yeah, nothing like ordering shadows in january and having them arrive in June. I have done it and the stuff has been great but not so much better than ordering stuff that is in stock. Devinah and Love Luxe Beauty often have duochromes and special shades in stock.

I would love to see a dupe video for Indie multichromes. Even in my small collection I have multiple dupes. I always wonder why multichrome shades are so limited like are there so only so many color variations you can do?

Agree! I get certain multichromes are popular but we are talking 3 or more shifts that’s endless possibilities! I wonder if it has anything to do though with formulating multichromes?

I think it's related to the multichrome pigments themselves that the brands are using. There are only so many of them so it's unsurprising when you can see different brands using the same ones - I can definitely spot a few shades in these palettes with near identical shifts to some of my Clionadhs.

I kinda feel at this point I'm maxed out on duo amd multichromes from indie brands. I think I'm starting to get dupes. Unless you say these are TRULY unique, I'll settle with my Devinah, Clionadh, Terra Moons , Glaminatrix, Bernovich, Glam Shop, Nabla, Looxi, Jd Glow and Give Me Glow. Lol I think I have about 500 singles. Enough is enough

I really wish they would eventually sell these all as singles. The palettes are pretty, but I have the colors already/don't like others/wouldn't realistically use a lot of the shades, and for that price tag I want to make sure i love every single shade, theyre unique to me and i would use em. That hot pink shimmer is E.VER.Y.THING to me, i want it so bad as a single!!!

Although I’m very interested in both of these palettes, the long wait for the pre-orders is convincing me to pass. I’m sure there is going to be so much makeup released between now and August for me to lust after instead.

I was one of the lucky ones to also get the first round of Ninhydrin!!! So now I own both plus multiple singles. Acd is adept cosmetics diamond, the I is irredecent and the m is mattes that’s the abbreviations.

A dupes video would be great. $60+ seems like a lot... but in comparison to Clionadh seems fair enough. Some of these are really beautiful but I don't want the palettes enough as a whole to go for it. Especially if I have to preorder and wait months to get them.

I would love to see a dupe video. I have the most from JD glow but have ordered a couple from Clionadh, Haunting Howl, and Sydney Grace as well as two in a pot from MAC that are duo chromes.

At first glance side by side I was like "oh yeah for sure the ninhydrin it has so much more punch", but the plain jane has more useable shades... because they’re more sheer they can be used on their own or placed on top of a matte to almost get the same effect of what some of the shades in the ninhydrin have, it’s such a stunning palette

Does anyone know the lifespan of these shadows? Just wondering if they'd dry out rather fast because of the formula. Such a helpful comparison! These shadows are gorgeous. Thank you! 😊

It has a 12 month expiration date on it. So if they dry up at 12 months there is nothing the brand would do to remedy it. It isn't worth the price tag IMO. I would rather go with a formula that has a good track record and pick out exactly what I want at that point.

im sure you can!! I have the plain jane and, while it is very pretty, five, maybe even six shades are sheer sparkly shadows that I feel could be easily duped by other indie shadows (or even some of the standalone singles adept sells individually 👀)

The plain Jane palette was originally $52 for the first round, then they upped the price for the 2nd restock(in January) to $62 because the price of the pigments was going to go up in 2021. The Ninhydrin palette is $68, so even more than Plain Jane. Probably due to the better packaging, since it has two mattes instead of all shimmers which would have technically brought the price down. I think the Plain Jane is so worth it! Just full of beautiful shiny and some shifty shades, I like having them all together.

NEWS FLASH!! Adept just emailed this message: "We will be accepting another round of preorders. They will open tomorrow at 9 am, MST, 8 am PST, 11 am, EST. Preorders will close on Sunday, 3/7/2020 at 8 pm, MST, 7 pm, PST, and 10 pm, EST. The approximate ship date for Ninhydrin is late July to mid August, however, we will do everything in our power to send it to you sooner. Thank you!! I thought the launch of Ninhydrin was a disaster. Lots of people on time but site issues. I was able to get the pre-order of Plain Jane... thanks to Lauren and her swatches I figured out which one I liked the best. Also, why not use Afterpay if this will take til late june to august to ship??

Thanks for this thorough comparison. I already have Plain Jane on preorder,pre-order, FOMO was having me ready to pre-order Ninhydrin, but seeing the similar shades had me putting my wallet away. Maybe down the road after the hype has died down and if I see myself using Plain Jane app the time. I'll keep on my watch list, but I just got in to indies (again) and have so many palettes on my wish list, it's probably better to try other brands instead.

🙈 i bought plain jane based on hype at full price without really researching, something i NEVER do, thinking i wanted multichromes and a palette of them would be great. 5 are my jam, the rest i probably won't use. Had i properly researched i would have passed and just got singles. It's a stunning palette, don't get me wrong, it's just not entirely my preference.

I decided to pass on these. I want to get the Break the Rules palette instead. It's a 9 pan of shimmer/duo chromes for $27. Some of the shades seem similar.

I have the Plain Jane and use a regular eye primer and glitter glue and haven’t had creasing. Even without the glitter glue!

I'm skeptical based on my experience with other similar formulas (my face is where the Moira Beauty Lucent Shadows go to die), but then again, I don't own it myself!

I have aci9 and 10 on my lid and inner corner today, I have hooded eyes and they’ve been on for 13 hours at this point and still look great, no creasing at all. I think I’ve used about half of the plain Jane palette so far and they’ve all held up well on my eyes with just using my regular UD primer potion.

Yes I would love seeing an Indie Brand dupes video! ... and I am so glad you made this video because I am going to save some money. While these look beautiful I am only seeing maybe 4 shades in darker palette that are really calling me and looking like it might be different than things I already own. I would rather just get the singles I really want. AND it bothers me that they are charging more for the 2nd palette even though there are 2 mattes & some shades very close to the Plain Jane. I am holding off for more Clionadh or other brands on my list. I just bought the ItsBel palette and am so excited about those shades & price!

I would love multichrome/iridescent dupes! I have already purchased from so many indie brands that take pre-orders that now I'm wondering if I've purchased the same color 🤣🤣🤣. I honestly try to make out if I own it but I'm pretty sure some mistakes were made. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ No regrets just yet though. I do love supporting indie brands!

They are different esp the PJ pallet which is the one i have. I have Clionadh,devinah,id glow,karla cosmetics ,chaos and make up manics and a few others..its such a unique formula and def different from the other companies i have bought from💖it is pricey but def worth it and if you love shiny and shimmer you will love it.

Also side note karla cosmetics uk..there multi chromes loose and pressed out of this world..pricey but worth it..but their opal loose multi chromes will change your eyeshadow game legit lol and use some of their silky shadow potion as well to add the loose opal multi chrome to an already applied eyeshadow or mulit chrome and girl game changer lol 😂 💖

@@amandadelatorre3790 girly idk i thought the same thing..i guess cause they are alittle more expensive but they are so freaking gorgeous 💖and there is no special tax you have to pay if you live in america to have it shipped or anything besides standard stuff..after blexit i was nervous but nope nothing changed 💖and they ship fast too. Even with blexit i got in two weeks other times about a week. But thats because it goes through chicago versus like ordering from Australia can take a month because los angelas stays backed up. I stay obsessed with make up lol like some for people shoes,purses or clothes is their thing which is cool💖but mine is make up and skin care legit i can rock anything even if it comes second hand as long as my makeup is good lol 💖😂

I really think this video is really helpful!!!🙏 Palettes are beautiful too, although I feel like I would like Ninhydrin better without the mattes and the diamond shadow formulas, those three shadows feel out of place and I appreciate first one being fully ACI 😊

I JUST BOUGHT BOTH!!! I was kind of sweaty and nervous afterwards bc it was like $130 but I’m still so excited! I think they’ll be here in July though, which sucks!!

I think that the shade they picked to replace ACI23 is a great one! It’s a dark based multichrome that shifts blue, purple to magenta!

This was a great in depth review. Hip Dot released something similar to the Plain Jane called Light Rays that's only 9 pans. I wonder how it compares. I also am trying to tell myself that I have the Kaleidos Club Nebula as well as Clionadh Witchcraft, Alchemy and Paleo palettes and not be a hoarder (haha too late). AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! the struggle is real. sigh....

Funny you mention how some of us keep buying the same shades over and over again from different indie brands!! I have one magnetic palette dedicated to my dupes! I have to chuckle when I’ve got moontide from Terra moons, a clionadh one (can’t remember the name off hand), one from Devinah, and jd glow that are all the same.. the same thing with abrasion from clionadh.. I have 3 super similar ones. I guess you’d say I like them!? It will be interesting to see which formula lasts the longest! Lol

These palettes are both so gorgeous! I was able to get the Plain Jane palette but I missed the Ninhydrin launch because I was at work. Thank you for showing us swatches and comparisons of both of them! Even though some of the shades look very similar in the 2 palettes I still want Ninhydrin! These sparkly shades just call to me! 😻✨

Thank you for doing this lauren!! Super helpful. So the preorders for the newer palette won't ship until the end of july to mid august? That's total craziness. 5 to 5 1/2 months? That's almost half a year LOL. I'm passing on it for that very reason:(

One of the things that gets overlooked in the hype over multichromes, is the fact that all of these brands have amazing shimmer and duochrome shades that are much cheaper and look really great on the eye. I have small hooded eyes, so having a ton of multichromes doesn't make sense. I have a couple of them, but honestly they don't perform that differently than my favorite duochromes.
