Depends on points, but I think the Castigator's new +1 AP for your army rule will supersede the Exorcist.

The thing with Exorcists is that they are an "all-in" option in my opinion. Because they are expensive and powerful but can be highly subject to variable performance due to their primary weapons having variable attacks and no blast. So I think if you take any you take three and build your army around them planning on Exorcists doing most of the heavy lifting. Bringers of Flame gives them the most without extra investment adding assault and potentially +1S (even though you may not want to use it much), but really I can see using any detachment except the penitent host if you're going this direction. Army of faith can potentially help Exorcists a lot of you're willing to put a 5 model jump squad back there you can use the ignore modifiers strategem in a 3" aura around the jump unit. Possible but restrictive and also depends on things outside your control, like terrain to keep them all safe.

Hitting on 4s with indirect, but still, it might become a problem. Especially with the combos to get extra AP from a strategem or by shooting something with a castigator first

It might be just me but it feels like the exorcist is better geared as a direct fire unit now. Ap2 wasn't enough to commit your tank to shoot something you wouldn't kill. With cover, ap reduction everywhere may as well be ap0. Having native ap3 with many ways to improve it and hitting on 3s or 2s depending on detachments actually encourages direct fire. I don't like indirect at all personally and I get where you're coming from. I just feel like it's more of a buff for direct than indirect

@@danielhughes3758 and then in that one detachment you ignore modifiers, and remove cover from the target and give +1 ap with a castgator, meaning you still hit on 3's with full ap:yes. :)

Losing the full reroll wounds when getting out of the Immolator is a huge debuff though.

You can do this again but with only 9d6 this time but still with dev wounds by copy and pasting the previous combo. If no overwatch is used, that’s now 18d6+9. Bye bye big scary primarch or annoying knight.

Yes, you can still run 5-10 repentia and still 3-10 flagellants.

No idea yet. Given you can take minimum 5 and up to 10 and how they've generally done it in the past you'll pay some cost (currently unknown) for 5 and double that cost for 6-10.
