Imho Leman and Valdor's relationship is probably the best subtle way to show off how much of Leman is a facade of his own choosing in the entire setting. You have the absolute pinnacle of intelligence and philosophical and historical knowledge the Emperor could create in Valdor ( and all the Custodes really) and The Barbarian Wolf King is the guy he Enjoys talking philosophy with. That speaks volumes.

Here's some to consider: What if all of the Primarchs (save Alpharius because he landed on Terra) somehow died before the Imperium discovered them? If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors? What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids? What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes? What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium? What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged?

The interaction between Sangunius, Dorn, Vulcan, and Valdor just befote the Emperor leavea the throne ine end and the death vol 1 is one of the best examples of where the Custodes stand in relation to the primarchs. They are seperate tech trees but both mega high level.

Sanguinius and the Custodes, in particular Valdor, really respected eachother and Sanguinius even called Valdor his brother. Iirc Valdor replied something along the line with, stop being so soppy about it, I like you too a bit. Weird you forgot to mention that.

5:35 This contradicts what Warrior Tier's 2 hour Angron piece says about this scene. I don't think the Emperor was physically ever near Angron. The Emperor, based on that 2 hour graphic novel, only showed to Angron psychically. Angron later refers to the Emperor as "paper-emperor" and detested the fact that the Emperor never showed up to see him. He stabbed and insta-killed the Custodian with their own spear due to the rage of being teleported away from his gladiator brothers and sisters.

Tbh, that would be kinda funny to me. Alpharius or Omegon posing as a Custodian for the last 10k years lol

I get a great feeling of sadness whenever I hear about a Space Marine or Custodian just getting killed simply to convey the power of something or someone else. I keep thinking about the hundreds of years of experience, knowledge, and capability within a flash just erased. I can't imagine how much pain and rage a Space Marine and Custodian would feel when one of their comrades are killed; especially for the Custodians, because there are so few. Just imagine the impact you already have when a family member dies, it is so painful that even stoic people find it hard to control their emotions even if for just a moment. Now imagine if your brother (or in some Custodian's cases, sister) that you have fought alongside, trained with, and have known for dozens upon dozens to even hundreds of years gets killed before your very eyes? I could imagine holding back on the enemy who did so would be terribly difficult. Though in those hundreds of years of life, they likely got a lot more used to and comfortable with death. It really does showcase the level of control these characters have to not lash out in a moment of extreme anger towards those that have wronged them. But I also do quite enjoy when they do.

Guilliman interactions with the custodian leading his guard squad are great. He was chosen by the higher up custodes because he pretty much hated primarchs. But over the course of their interactions it goes from fuck this guy I don’t trust him kill him if he does anything a little suspicious but don’t let anything else kill him under any circumstances to this guy might actually be awesome and the leader we need for the challenges ahead.

Custodes think they could take Dorn, the same thing thought Alpharius and we know how he ended, and maybe some know how a certain Custodes that took on Alpharius ended. Alpharius more or less handled him like a child, not even breaking a sweat.

hey i recently reread the final siege of terra book and while they where talking about the dark king and how he would basically emerge through the destruction of humanity just like slaanesh was birthed through the downfall of the eldar which got me thinking if maybe the other chaos god where created through the fall of another galaxy spanning empire like for example the old ones which i think would be ideal for tzeentch because the old ones where the masters of sorcery and psychic powers and tzeentch is i think said to be the oldest. for the other two i have no idea but mayve someone else can think of something
