I started off building AdMech and it was paint jobs like this that effected my decision. Just to clarify though, they’re not called “Sergeants” they’re called “Alphas”. (Sergeants are SM.) And the weapons he’s carrying are a Phosphor Blast Pistol and an Arc Maul.

Comments like this are very humbling and I'll pass it onto the team for sure. Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos. Of course, practice does make perfect so I'm not only sure you're a perfectly decent painter right now, but you're only going to improve! I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the tuition side of Siege that may interest you. You can find out more information about it over at www.siegestudios.co.uk/tuition (there's a free basing tutorial over there too!)

I’m no expert in miniatures painting but I used to work in the paint department in a store during the summer when I was in college and so know some easy to use options for adding a nice clear shine to a finished model. I’d just buy a clear lacquer spray from your local hardware store (they are what professionals use to give painted metal and other objects that glossy, shiny “factory feel”). However since these are miniatures you likely want a less glossy option than what you would use on a counter top or something like that so get one that is either “matte” or “satin” (often they will let you test spray something in the store), probably satin if you want a bit more noticeable sheen (but to me this army here looks more matte than satin, in some other armies they’ve painted I’d guess it’s satin)Spray it on quite thinly though from around a foot away, seeing how well two coats work for you before doing more. Note that for this to have a smooth feel and be dirt repellant you should “buff” sprayed surfaces after your two coats are very dry... I use about the most fine sand paper available (you can even get wet sanding paper, designed to use when wet for the most fine budding but even you want you could try a dry wash cloth first). It’s kinda like when you wax a car, to bring out the smooth feel and shine you need to buff it to get it there, otherwise it may leave a somewhat sticky feel even when dry (this is more pronounced with more glossy sheens but will still likely be present some even in satin or possible matte). Finally some people recommend using a hair dryer to dry it if you have trouble with some of the model appearing “frosty” (but keeping the coats quite thin helps relevant this as well).

I just was wondering, what did you do with the Kalestan Robot programmer guy? (Don't know his official name off the top of my head). (Warning: Lore Ahead!) The Kalestan Robots (The humanoid ones from the 3rd segment) are so archaic - as they weren't originally built by the AdMech - that they had to be constantly reprogrammed for different tasks on the fly, such as them being programmed to kill _________, and then stopping in the middle of the battlefield after the task is completed. They had some kind of tech priest to reprogram them when needed.

Just started building my AdMech army and looking to add a knight to my army. Know what knight verrent to start on? Was thinking of building a Pladin mostly to fill in the heavy fire support and anti vehicle role. Sure I can make my Dune Crawlers do that but i have them fill in the anti air role with the Icarus load out.

Just got into the habit in the past Cpl weeks. My friends are barely gamers so tabletop is unlikely and my wife tells me "You are so nerd" (shes Thai, that's her adorable accent) so I didn't get into it forever cuz id be goin solo... Planned on going with a Space Marine Chapter (Grey Knights) if I made an army and I do have three units, but I got an admech skitarii unit and Im completely sold, goin with these guys 100% now. Shit's fun to build so no tears over having got a buncha marines. I played the game Mechanicus and the lore is so off putting and creepy for these guys, love these sexless but still perverted nerds. Theyre just such weird losers that they've cycled back around to being amazing. I like the ideology, however absurdly bastardized it is. I don't consider 40k to be scifi in any way, shape or form. A bunchs fantasy elements "but in space!" doesnt make anything scifi. I just love the dangerous lunatic direction they go with "mars and body augmentation"....like any human would ever go for body augmentation if they ended up like this. Its Warhammer though so going comically insane with zero regard for realism is part of the charm. Been reading a lot of Joe Abercrombie lately, coincidentally. Despite his moniker being "Godfather of Grimdark", I love the unfathomable disparity between Warhammer and The First Law. I don't really consider TFL to be Grimdark. It stands to reason that a story we as readers wanna follow would be about people who experienced action and combat. He just makes combat and depravity realistic, nothing "grim" or "dark" is added for its own sake, its all a commentary on morality and/or reader expectations... THIS is Grimdark. No regard for any human realism, pure lunaric absurdity. Clearly an aggregate of numerous manic individuals. It's so easy to love this world, even though these elements added elsewhere or without being tongue in cheek would just feel amateurish. But the way WH does it makes it one of the easiest Fantasy universes to get totally sucked into. Always loved the the games, from as big as Total War to as tiny as the Mount and Blade Warband mod. I get so pysched when I am able to buy one of these bastards, like the most excitement ive had for any toy-genre purchase as an adult. Such a engaging and easy to love faction.
