Listen, I’m queer but if my daughter was dating foxes I wouldn’t approve, I’d be worried. Sure they’re cute with their little furry ears and bushy tails but sooner or later they’re going to trick you into marriage and spirit you away to a shrine in the forest to live for eternity as their fox bride. Cutting off all contact with family, just sitting around eating berries and unfortunate mice. Call me overprotective, but I don’t want that for my daughter.

@JacyndaMinor
@JacyndaMinor 5 ай бұрын
I definitely know the feeling, although I’ve been diagnosed since my early 20s (and apparently when I was a kid but my parents didn’t believe it was a thing) because I never really knew just how much of my behavior and functioning had to do with my ADD, like how many very specific little idiosyncratic quirks I have are actually straight up just ADD. I’ve just been lamenting the fact that I was such an asshole and hating myself for so much. Usually there’s a lot of internalized disapproval and shame that comes with ADHD usually alongside so much earnestness and effort. I recommend looking into some of the ADDitude magazine content here on KZfaq (there’s a lot of topics, look through until one really resonates with your situation specifically bc I guarantee they’ll have one) and I super duper recommend that channel ADHD love, they do mostly shorts (clever) but I swear I have learned so much about myself and I’ve been really enjoying the camaraderie and feeling of validation that comes from realizing that so many of your weird little personality traits are actually just ADD, and a ton of people like me are out here. Hope those channels are relevant/useful to ya. I’ve only just found them in the past few months and already i feel like I’m better for it.

Same here with autism at 30. Back in the day, having no friends and getting bullied from kindergarten through high school was just not cause to take a kid to a psychologist... as long as they were doing well in school, and that's the one advantage autism often gives. So you just get to stew in the loneliness and rejection.

The part about adhd diagnosis being super gendered is real though. That’s why so many grown women are just finding out now that we have it, because people either didn’t notice or didn’t care enough to tell us when we were kids.

Tough being a drug dealer when there’s a shortage of supply.
@katehucks774
@katehucks774 5 ай бұрын
And then the shortage of alternatives because everyone’s getting switched onto different meds that are more easily acquired, until THAT supply dries up… I got switched to dexedrine, but then I couldn’t get that either so I got switched to vyvanse, which I knew from past experience would stop working after a while, and when it did I ended up losing my job because I just couldn’t function. I almost crushed my hand in a hydraulic pie crust press! I’m lucky that I had already been considering leaving that job for other reasons and that I ended up at a job that’s a much better fit for me because by some miracle I’ve been able to get back on dexedrine with a reliable supply, but for millions of other people, it’s life-ruining.

Adderall is some strong shit. And I mean, 98% methamphetamine, can dilate your pupil level of strong. I'm not saying those of us ADHD folks on it are addicts, and that the shortage wasn't really fcked (because it is), not at all, but there has been a few cases... especially people who don't need it when it's being sold illegally... and most ADHD meds aren't even close to this and will usually work well. Not saying Adderall is wrong for everyone tho, but it's basically just clean street meth (of course NOT crystal meth... absolutely not the same thing than meth... People need to relax lol) and that's just a fact. Unfortunately when you're young and in college trying to pass your finals and people tell you this, you may get very upset. We do have an addicted type personality and the drive is real. But right now on Vyvanse 10mg which is like the smallest lightest dose of methamphetamine derivate. I sleep well and the effect is strong enough to have changed my life within a month! It all depends on people of course.

@@jas_batailleOh DUDE my first experience with ADHD meds had me FUCKED UP. I mean, I was diagnosed as an adult because I had no idea why I was struggling so hard in uni and they're like "okay we've done all the interviews with you and your family and investigated your entire childhood and you need to take these pills" and I'm like "sure! I've already forgotten what these are and what they're supposed to be for but you're the doctor!". Then I proceeded to take _the wrong dose_ because I was supposed to cut the pills in half or quarters or something with a little pill cutter but I just took _the whole pill._ I have never had a worse time in my LIFE I percieved EVERYTHING and my eyes looked like MOONS. Anyway, never made that mistake twice. Always be careful to stick to the doses given by the doc and only adjust with professional input when you feel your current meds aren't working out for you 👍

😅 As someone who is asexual but biromantic, I get this a lot. People are like, "Oh, you want a friend," and I'm like, "No, I want a partner" and they're like "Oh, you want a roommate" and I'm like "No, I want a partner". 😭 So maybe he's just a bi-romantic heterosexual? Oh and my brother had to go to different places to get his Adderall prescription filled. I heard they were giving people fake Adderall at one point because it wasn't in people's system on drug tests even though they took it. It's ridiculous. I don't buy the whole shortage excuse. This seems intentional.
