I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the kzfaq.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

It might help to understand why this procedure works. The 50 yard dot is located at the very center of the optical image. Therefore, no matter what the magnification, the 50 yd dot will not move relative to the image. That’s because the center of a spherical lens is only point on lens that is not deflected when magnified. So the approach is first zero the 50 yard dot (via elevation/windage). Next, adjust the magnification of image (arrow speed on scope) to be the correct size for the range dots to be spaced properly. The 20 yard reference point is a good range to make this magnification adjustment. Simply change the magnification until the 20 yard dot lines up with the 20 yard impact point of target. Remember the 50 yard point of impact in not affected by this magnification change since it is uniquely located in center of lens. The 20 yd dot and 50 yd dot will be dead on. All other yardages pin points will be close for a normal flying arrow.

You left out a very important part at the end. When you verified at 20 and hit where you were aiming you failed to go into some DETAIL about what to do if it doesn't hit where you're aiming at 20 after you zero at 50.

Make sure proper eye relief is achieved and the scope is exactly level AND the timing and axle to axle measurements are on the money. (If ATA and/or timing isn't in spec get it to spec. Otherwise you'll be chasing your tail.) During initial sight in turn the speed dial to the suggested speed of your bow. Starting at 10 yd fire one shot to see where it hits and with your windage and elevation adjustments adjust the point of impact to the point of aim..... it doesn't have to be precise as long as you're close. Then depending on what scope model you have the smallest yardage will either be 20 or 30 yards. Go to that smallest reticle and fire one shot. Again adjusting windage and elevation just so you're close. Then look to see what the main crosshair in the scope is whether it be 40 or 50 yards and move the target to that distance. Again, using the windage and elevation you want to adjust the turrets so that you are DEAD ON THE MONEY at that distance with that reticle. Once you achieve a dead-on-site in at that distance go back to the smallest yardage reticle in the scope whether it be 20 or 30 yards. Fire one shot from a super steady rest. If the arrow hits where it's aimed at that distance the scope is calibrated for the speed of your bow. If it does not, again have the crossbow and a solid rest and without adjusting windage or elevation adjust the speed dial up or down so that your reticle touches the arrow you just shot. Now the scope is calibrated from the smallest reticle whether it be 20 or 30 all the way out to 100 yards. Dave at Wyvern Creations goes into explicit detail in a video on his KZfaq page on this with a Hawke scope, but the procedure is the same for Ravin scopes. And periodically check your ATA measurement and make sure your timing is still splitting the dots with the cables. If your ATA is longer, meaning the string is stretched, you will lose speed and therefore your reticles won't hit at the yardages they're marked for. If your timing is off you'll be having flyers going in all different directions and then you'll be wondering what the heck is going on.

The feet per second adjustment in an unnecessary piece on the scope. No other crossbow scope has this that I’ve seen. I’ve been a sniper for several years and have dealt with just about every kind of scope made. All crossbows loose power over time, whether they cost $200 or $2000. Companies need to stop complicating things!!! Set the thing at what it’s rated for and leave it alone! Unless you have a chronograph at home to check the speed weekly, you won’t know what the actual speed is anyway. My r26x was set at 400fps out of the box, I’ve fired countless bolts through it with no deviation at all. If you fire 200-300bolts and start to notice a deviation just make the adjustment in the turrets like you would any other scope. Changing the fps dial WILL NOT re-zero your scope of its off!!! You must manually adjust it. This post isn’t a knock at its producer, you did a good job explaining everything.

Why didn’t you adjust the speed on the scope before zeroing it in at 50? Wouldn’t that have thrown off your zero?

Are you all aware in early December of 2017 that the white nocks on the crossbows are recalled. Some people have been injured. Contact Ravin and they will send you new orange nocks to replace your old white ones with..I saw this on their website....Bill

Video is quite lacking. Wasn't the speed selector already set to the correct speed for the bow? What if it is not zeroed @ 20yds?

First, what happened to the sound? Did you have the mic in a box somewhere? My R20 sounds like a .22 going off--trust me folks, the Ravin is NOT whisper quiet. I'm not complaining. I knew it was noisy when I bought it, but this is deceptive right up front. Second, how about going over the number of clicks required to move the windage left or right or the elevation up or down one inch at 50 yards? Which direction should I turn the dial to move the point of impact toward the center? Finally, shouldn't you set the speed dial first? If not, why not? I watched another video where the guy was off 6 inches at 50, so he did some mental calculations stating that would be 12 inches at 100 and would require 24 clicks (2in/click), so he would apply the 24 clicks at 50, making it 4 clicks per inch. I don't know if that is correct, but at least it's something.

My Ravin suddenly not zeroing. I sighted in at 20. Was significantly hitting left. Got that on zero. Shot 50. Hits 4 low,2.5 left. First time its ever done that. So I figure its several years old now so maybe limbs weakening. I chrono it. Only shooting 363. Was set at 425. I adjust scope to speed. Still shoots low.and left at 50. Quessing left limbs weak? Do I need to replace limbs maybe? Always zeroed perfectly after getting on at 20 in years past. ??? Its 6 years old this year.

You are adjusting the scope at 50 yds I assume aiming with the 50 yd reticle? Then going to 20 and turning the speed dial until it hits at 20 is this correct? Seems like it would back off at 50 wouldn’t Adjust speed dial close first before fine tuning

I'm confused ! Ravin video said to set speed dial at 30 yards after zeroing at 50 yards. Is it 20 yards or 30 yards you set the FPS speed dial ????

Can u telly my crossbow is shooting dead on at 20 and 30 yards but when I move back and use my 40 and 50 yard lines it's off to the right?

Most likely scope is out of level Put a level Across bow limbs get it level. Hang a plumb bob at 20 yds Unscrew rings enuff so you rotate scope. Rotate scope until it matches string on the plumb bob. Tighten scope back down relight in.

So I am watching this video and already broke two arrow shooting high over the target at 50 yards. Using 20 dot at 20 yards bulls eye. Using 30 dot at 30 yards bulls eye. Using 50 dot at 50 yards is hitting high over the target. Is that how we supposed to sight it on?

I'm on here looking for the same answer! Was shooting mine today up to 40 yards on target went to 60 shot high on both of my arrows which were right next to each other. Guessing if you use the 40 yard dot at 60 it would still be on but havnt tried it.

All depends on how fast your cross bow shoots mine shoots 300fps so with my 40 yard line on my scope will need to put the 40 and 50 yard line in the middle so I can hit dead on at 50.

so zero at 50 yards... does that mean u zeroddd it with the 20 yard or the 50 yard dot. so im guessing the zero part at 50 yards is done with the 50 yard dot.. guess ravin likes selling stuff but not answering people question on youtube.. guess will have to read manual maybe they tell.. rather watch a video they should be better then words on paper with no showing..

Using the 20-yard reticle at 10 yards do a rough sight in to get it close using elevation and windage adjustments. Then move back to 20 using the 20 yard reticle. Again using the elevation and windage at 20 with the 20 yard reticle all you have to do is get it close it doesn't have to be precise. Then move back to 50 and using the 50-yard reticle make your adjustments with elevation and windage so that you are dead on. After you do that you have to verify the 20 yard reticle at 20 yards. When doing so fire one shot at 20. If it hits where it's aimed at the scope is calibrated to your bow's speed. If it doesn't hit dead on at 20 when verifying put the crossbow back in a solid rest and WITHOUT moving the crossbow adjust the speed ring up or down until it covers the arrow you just shot at 20 yards during the verifying process. After that the scope is set no more is needed.
