don't have to delete or cancel her account, just nerf her to high heavens for obvious balance reasons and deal with the problems she revealed so other people don't emulate her and make more builds like it. The point of an MMO is for everyone to have fun, but on a semi-even playing field after all, not have most people play the obvious way then have one person stumble into god-tier by accident.

@@goodks1073 to me, that really doesn't make sense. Bugs are bugs, and fixing such bugs but leaving the lucky one to have discovered them unchanged means you're just promoting special treatment. Also, the thing about maple being at the forefront just sounds so forced considering dozens to hundreds of people have been playing the game well before she did.

@@fanficlover she is the leader of 1 of the top 3 guilds (I would call that the forefront) No1 can copy maples build most of her skills are game unique skills(only 1 player can get ever.) there is a 1st to solo a boss or beat in a special way get skill (they put drain damage only which was locked to mages at start but maple found that eating was drain damage ) Devour , hydra , machine God, atrocity, angel & throne are unique programed in to the game without them maple would just be a tank so no copies. Why nerf a player that only plays for fun getting lucky skills & gear that over lap well (machine gods down side is it breaks your gear to use its atks maple only player known to have auto repair gear so no other player could use it as freely) As some1 that has had people call me a cheater for getting high in a play to win game without money I can feel her .they made me mad so I started whale hunting (I still joked with some of the whales I hunted like I just beat u 10 times in a row then they ask how many in a row they won I just say I lost track at 1000 or so)

@@fanficlover because its never a bug? the dev just doesn't realized someone could obtain those skills as a beginner , which iirc the dev patched it along with Maple nerf after the first event , also continuously nerfing 1 player wouldn't reflect good on the game because it would discourage other players from exploring and discovering the hidden skills in the game. also Maple becoming the game poster girl isnt really forced, she's a cute newbie girl who got into top 3 on her first event , that itself gave her a lot of fans, and her unique skills and playstyle also keeping her on the frontpage ,which contribute to her popularity .

Barring the fact she's the MC, the amount of sweaty tryhards the would exist to min/max their builds to perfection should by and large put maple as more of a midtier at best. Yet somehow, even though everything she does is by complete accident or a goofy idea, she's easily beating even dev designed death traps with so much ease it would an leave an irl dev's head spinning on where they went wrong. As for being the forefront, I'll give you that. She did well in her first ever major event and earned a bunch of recognition so she'd definitely deserve at least a month or two of popularity. After that though, especially in gaming news, she should have become old news that barely anyone cared about other then the fact she's still broken with all the OP gear she'd gotten that no one else will ever get because of the fact they're unique items.

Investor: "How does it make money though?" Dev: "Uuuuhhhh...." *Tries to think of a consumer-friendly way to make revenue* It... Works for business meetings...?" Investor: "Like the Metaverse?" And you get the gist by now.

I don't see a system like this working without access to the brain stem or controlled bursts of radioactive particles, and I don't think most people would buy into a system that requires brain surgery or a stick of uranium to function. Maybe in 300 years, we MIGHT have the capacity to make such a device. But as it stands, we can barely convince a radiation beam to kill cancer for us with minimal collateral damage, let alone precise activation of specific neurons to generate a controlled lucid dream/hallucination. We don't even know what dreams do yet.

@@galaclon1469 Yes, but that's very different from full immersive VR. For one, they take advantage of nerves that are outside the brain, while anything that creates hallucinations would need access to either the optic nerve or the visual cortex, both of which are inconveniently located behind a layer of bone. (I suppose you could always stimulate the eye directly, but anything more intense than the current gen of VR headset would likely just blind you :/ )

The problem is that the devs made food in the game and gave them hp values. To "kill" or reduce it's hp to 0 they made bites and eating dealing hp removal dmg. Don't remember if it's a flat number per bite or % based. And since hp removal isn't something you can build resistance on unless it's the unkillable bosses like the giant snails in season 1, everything dies to noms

They also made it a point when Sally and Maple were eating in game the first time in the manga that they don't get full or fat; just taste and feel full

So in the book the devil actually have this discussion. And the one who made the demon from world 2 Maple ate inside out is left to comfort the dev of this dragon.

I don't think a lot of admins would be able to be as patient as these guys are with Maple, and the whole idea of "nerfing her proves nothing" would be meaningless to such people. They'd just go ahead and do it for the sake of their own egos, and could make up an excuse of "this player was disrupting game balance", and I bet a lot of players would just accept it. I tip my hat to them for being such good sports.

I'm wondering why they don't just bite the metaphorical bullet and give a boss Maple's stats and abilities. That way, people would have to figure out how to beat Maple to beat the boss, and then just have the new bosses do what those players did. Hell, take it even further, and just have Maple BE the new boss.

"Things tend to be buffed rather than nerfed" Warframe and League of Legends nerfing the completely wrong thing that makes a Frame/Champion strong for the 8242nd time and having to nerf them again and again until they finally get that makes the character strong, nerfing it, and now it's a useless character that ABSOLUTELY sucks in EVERYTHING. Because the geniouses don't revert the other nerfs they did before.

That is basically the main source of player damage in the game Grim Dawn. It does percentage damage and ignore resistances. So you can be a god in the game and still die if you stand on damage ground for 10 seconds. I hate it as you can't always tell where the damage ground is. And the lack of a defence means I just stop playing.

To be fair to the devs, for most of the effects and abilities by themselves are actually quite balanced. It’s only when you start combining the various abilities together that they become op. Like Maple’s Machine God would normally require you to sacrifice your armor permanently for a temporary power boost and it scales with the strength and quality of the armor sacrificed. It’s only because Maple’s armor has the ability to self repair and get stronger every time its destroyed that made Machine God OP.

take with a grain of salt since i don't know how true this is but a comment i seen said in light novel when they where recruiting for the guild they went to the first floor and saw other players did try to mimic maple but due to the aggro fix way back when they just ended up with a bunch of slow walking players who eventually got bored and made normal characters

​@@dragon012652that's true, the extreme builds, as they are called, are basically impossible to pull off alone As shown by Mai and Yui, most players who try are unable to pull it off for some reason and go back and reroll their characters, even the twins were about to before maple recruited them, because they were dying so much, they just couldn't manage to defend themselves

ten months late, but I'm pretty sure they did mess with the method of acquiring one skill she got extremely early into her character's life that basically quadruples all points she puts into defense, making it nigh impossible to get the same way Maple did. They also implemented the Piercing mechanic at around the same time as this patch, alongside nerfing Devour in that update after the first event Maple was in. Since then, numerous updates to either curb her power growth or the fact that literally no one thought to test a purely defense oriented class for balance before Maple, have been implemented. Since, because no one ever did it before, they never needed a piercing mechanic or things that ignore defense and deal fixed damage.

@@JosephStewart1003 atrocity was used as a shield that took over 1000 damage if any1 was hit they would die (1000 damage dragon rage) She could still use machine God but blocking for sally was most effective in that fight. Maple & Sally 2 maned a tower and got 3rd place because the last boss took too long Payne was on floor 5 when maple got to 3 but the both started 10 at almost the same time (that terrain damage really slowed her down.)
