Prodigy surprisingly kept the spirit of what Star Trek is. Sure it's bite size for kids to take in and it's not as heavy handed as other Star Trek series but it's small enough for kids to appreciate and learn the message the show is trying to convey.

Funny thing is, out of all new Star Trek, Prodigy is the one that actually managed to keep the spirit of Star Trek. Most other shows did not and either went with extremes, degradation, etc. Strange New Worlds also holds these aspects of Trek I would say... but Prodigy actually doesn't muck up the canon as other shows do (and to be fair, I liked disco and its visual changes in the first 2 seasons... what I didn't like so much is what came in S3 and 4 as the storylines were weak... technology too under developed, and just 'more of the same' premise).

Prodigy and Lower Decks are the best pieces of Star Trek out right now. I did not expect Prodigy to be so damn good.

The fact that there are people who think there can be a "best" Trek makes me sad, especially in light of all the people who are adamant about hating specific series while praising others. The only thing I can say with utmost certainty is: _If anyone who calls themself a fan of Star Trek has a problem with the franchise drawing attention to major issues in society, (read: _*_if anyone has a problem with Trek being 'Woke'),_*_ I advise them to avoid any episode of the show that aired after _*_September 8th, 1966._*

And in my opinion they have NO excuse for it. Because it was PURELY discrimination since Seven was a borg. Doesn’t matter that she helped save voyager repeatedly and proved herself trustworthy apparently.

Seven was a major part of bringing back Voyager, but she helps Picard a few times and they made her a Commander.

@@jeremydale4548 Well, if Seven decided to join SF while she was still on VOY in the DQ (right around the same time Icheb was admitted), she would have had no issues getting in. It was after VOY got back that things changed.

@deksroning125 FIELD commissions are temporary & can be revoked by the naval bureaucracy after the unit returns from the distant country. In other words: Admiral decisions outrank Commander or Captain decisions .

LOWER DECKS shows a guy holding a heart & squeezing it to keep a patient alive. Even today’s primitive doctors would NEVER do such a thing. Modern technology can make a heart beat through electrical stimulation. Surely they have the same (or better) techniques in the future! ST LD has major flaws with logic & consistency & uses magic fantasy instead of science .

@@kchishol1970 I strongly agree. Plus... It's a good thing they didn't even screw up ships, aliens, story-lines, and most importantly the timeline this time (unlike with "Star Trek: Discovery" and "Star Trek: Picard" which were just plain GOD AWFUL in my opinion).

Those "Kids" did not "steal" the Protostar, it was found, sitting there on Tars Lamora, sent there by Capt. Chekotay. Hoping that the rest of Starfleet would find it first.

Actually, they should have been commended for finding it, attempting to return it and trying to warn Starfleet of its booby trap.

@@kchishol1970 they recovered the ship, keeping it and the weapon from the reach of hostile forces, protecting Starfleet in the process for as long as possible. The tribunal ultimately saw that too, once all reports were presented. That's why all charges were dropped.

I'm sorry I don't care what anyone says they did not steal the protostar They found the protostar. The protostar should be listed under Salvage rights as Captain Sisko once said." They found a wrecked ship and a dead crew and they found it first" ok not dead as Benjamin have said. Well.... the crew found an unmanned ship outside of federation space and they found it before anyone else. At least they made an effort to bring it back to the Starfleet. They could have used it and gone joyriding or hurting species. They didn't. They also were planning from practically day one to bring it back to the Federation to join star Fleet. So Starfleet should be thanking them. And it should be listed under a humanitarian Mission as they were trying to escape from bondage

and if anything they would have been perfectly willing to return the ship to starfleet as well so long as they asked nicely, then there's the fact that riker and kirk both lost the flagship under their commands, yet really only got slaps on the wrist.

THANK YOU!! I've been thinking that this entire time. I literally was about to write it myself, thinking no one else saw it this way when I found your comment. Not only did they not steal that ship, but they were never criminals to begin with. They were orphans, sold, traded, and captured into slavery. As far as I'm concern, all the so-called criminal charges were misunderstandings and mistakes made by kids of trauma, who didn't know who they could trust(when they were too scared to talk to starfleet at the trading post).

I think some keen-eyed fans observed the Marquis symbol on that chart/screen highlighting the 26 different species that were spliced together to create him, leading to an early fantheory that Chakotay was the donor for his homo sapien DNA, although that was mostly disproved in later episodes since it doesn't seem to fit the chronology of events with Chakotay being stuck in an alternate future and all that.

but paramount found the protostar crew guilty on false charges. most diverse characters in a series and it gets cancelled and replaced with shows that possess close to zero diversity, saturated with european american characters. don't tell me paramount isn't run by racists.

I really wish I could like this series but the pig guy is so freaking annoying they way he talks and addressing himself in third person😑 that it made me drop the show 😭. Granted if you are not annoyed by people speaking in third person all the time or are able to tone him out you'll probably enjoy this series. A solid 8/10 if the pig wasn't on the main cast but since he is ill have to give it a 1/10. Fingers cross he is killed off or is written of or my gosh changed the way he speaks cus its so ear burstingly annoying 😭 especially when I still wanna watch this.

They explain why he does that actually, he wasn't always like that. But he was stuck on a ship doing repairs with a robot thing that made him constantly identify himself when he talked and he just never fell back out of that habit afterwards.
