Privacy and ownership of consent in any form seems to be a thing of the past. When you buy video games digitally You are paying for a license. That if for example console 1 has a falling out with that game dev studio or they get bought up and pull those games you lose your ability to play it not to mention them closing stores for old console where you own digital games

@@rayzimmermin Renting is not theft. When you pay your rent you're making a contract to the landlord that you respect the landlord's agreement and uphold your end of the bargain. Squatting is objectionably a crime no matter the excuse. If you're occupying an uninhabited home that is owned by the real estate owner / landlord without their consent that is basically theft. You don't occupy other people's property without their informed consent or permission that's stealing. Squatting in someone else's property be that a vehicle or a home is stealing and that is unacceptable.

Hell I've been declining WhatsApp's new terms of service daily for like 2 years now (ever since they merged with Facebook) and I can still use the app just fine. When you force the end-user to agree to something in order to continue using a service (especially if they had access before or if they paid for it) that's not a contract that's extortion.

That was the last push I needed. I've cancelled my subscription. There's plenty of alternative software. I hope people will follow. Adobe deserves to fail for all their predatory behavior

I always thought it was so ridiculous that their pdf reader "needed" to boot an update service along the OS when no other pdf reader does it. You can disable it but sometimes merely opening the program re-enables it automatically. I don't see the point when other pdf readers don't add any boot time services and they stay up-to-date just fine.

Same here, I have a legit PS CS6 version from 2012 that I'm keeping, it broke a year or 2 ago because of a Windows 10 update, but thank God for the "compatibility mode" thing, that made it work again so I don't have to worry for a few year !!! When it breaks permanently, I think I'll just move away from Adobe products (though I currently only use PS).

I don't even think you can outright buy it anymore, i use a free art app because its stupid that i have to pay a subscription for an app on my own computer. There is a paid option,but i can live without it, there's just brushes/coloring pages that i don't need,i use it mostly for room design.

I don't even think the "Town Square" argument does it enough justice. It's not that social media is the "Town Square". It's that Social Media is a $2.46 trillion dollar giga stadium with a 50 story Las Vegas "Sphere" on top of it, built next door to the traditional town square. The town square is still there, but nothing anyone says there matters because it's drowned out by the blasting sound and fury of the giga stadium. And like 4 corporations, one of them run by the CCP, controls entirely what's said and shown inside and outside the giga stadium.

GDPR covers personal identifying data. Such as name,birth year,credit cards, etc etc. It doesnt cover anything else.

I already use DaVinci extensively, it's so good. Just not proficient enough in fusion to ditch After Effects but this is the last straw. Switched to Luminar Neo for Lightroom and will switch to Affinity for PS, AI, ID. Enough is enough.

When they required Internet connections to their servers just to install the programs, that's when I said bye-bye to Adobe. I did that also to Corel. You can't even edit on your machine unless it connects to their servers. Sitting outdoors on a sunny day under a shady tree. Thinking I could edit a short video. NOPE! Program couldn't tap their servers. Computer said, "NO!" I said no more to both those companies.

I bought a used copy of photoshop CS6 from eBay, and when I tried to register it with adobe, they flat out told me no. They said because I bought it used from a 3rd party (eBay) that it isn’t eligible for registration. You have to register it in order to use it. Idk how that’s even legal. I ended up having to illegally crack the software in order to use it. it was paid for in full by the original owner, and I paid that owner for it used, and they refused to let me register it. Adobe is horrible to deal with…

Big red flag is they will monitor not just data uploaded, but PROCESSED by them, so basically everything if you use an Adobe product I work in health care, I don't think this is going to go over well, because even Acrobat has some AI feature, that of course uses their cloud

This "you give us a license" stuff has been this way even in the oldest 2015 agreement you can see in the way back machine. Difference being the sentence "when you upload" which disappeared in the Sept 19 2022 terms. Not in this year's, "manual review" also added.

Hi, cloud engineer here. I work for... a very large company. Here's the skinny: keep anything you care about absolutely out of any cloud, period. There are not exceptions. Whether or not contractually described, obligated, or clarified, *all cloud providers have access to your data, and they will use that access*. Terribly sorry if that makes life harder, but here we are.

Be a semi-pirate :) - Place Adobe workstations on a VLAN that doesn't have internet and just work off the NAS. - Block all the adobe domains at the router/firewall level or Great Firewall it by sinkholing the domain. - Reroute to proxy and sanitizing the data If they're phoning home at an interval otherwise the application shuts down? It's time to move on

I've said it time and time again... SaaS has been more successful than a literal gold mine for business, but it's been an absolute shit-show for the customer since moment one. Adapting the SaaS model to daily life is wrecking literally every facet of existence; to the point that you can't even drive your car if you don't pay a monthly fee to Tesla.

I wasn't going to get Adobe originally, now they lost me as a customer forever. Privacy can still be regained, we just have to put our money where the freedom is. Honestly, this is the era to stop live services. We only have so much money and on top of that they want to steal from us, outrageous!
