+I am Warren Thanks for listing all the information. Made life easier. I would personally keep original "F" function to see before and after. Set ripple delete to shift+D. Set add edit to F2 Set add mark to F3 Set delete selected mark to F4 Set Go to Next/Prev Edit Point to ctrl+tab (Same as flipping next webpage in Google) Just my personal preferences.

To add to this, one key thing he didn't touch on is how to actually create edits with the keyboard. So I'd suggest playing with: 'Add Edit To All Tracks' > this will slice the whole timeline at the playhead. 'Select Next Clip' > then you can select the next clip 'Select Previous Clip' > or select the previous clip I have Add Edit mapped to [ ` ] = the key above tab on a windows keyboard Select next clip to [ 2 ] Select previous clip to [ 1 ] You can then navigate, cut, select the bit you don't want, then hit F for Ripple Edit, and you've just trimmed out a chunk without touching the mouse.

OMG SO HELPFUL. This video should get a "most helpful for beginner editors" award. Seriously. (thumbs up!) Btw, is there a shortcut to copy a clip and insert it right behind the clip if there's a trail of clips following it? The method you showed won't work for me if I've got a whole trail of clips after the selected clip because I won't be able to hold and drag out...? Thanks!

This is awesome! Thanks! However, I hope you've remapped the functions that were originally assigned to the Q and W keys because they're great. I just learned about them about a month ago. You can choose a clip in your timeline, find the moment in that clip where you want that clip to start, and then hit Q to ripple delete everything prior to where the playhead is in just that clip. Then, when you get to the point in that clip where you're ready for it to end, you can hit W to ripple delete the unwanted portion of the end of that clip. So, so useful. If you want to remap it, it's called "Ripple Trim Previous Edit to Playhead" and "Ripple Trim Next Edit to Playhead"

FASTER: If you want to cut all the tracks, you can use the "add edit" (ctrl + K) command. I changed it to "C". I never use the cut tool. If you just want to cut a single clip, just select the clip and go to the point and type ctrl + K, or C in my case.
@Langger

U can use CTRL+C to add edit. More effective than C because for this u need use all time your timeline's needle

@FStoppers
@FStoppers 8 жыл бұрын
+pramod jois fade in is an "effect" in the effect panel, you just drag it onto your clip. Slo mo can be done by right clicking and changing speed/duration but it won't look good. If you want it to looks smooth you will need to buy twixtor

Any changes to your keyboard shortcuts in 2019?!
@XSquibX
@XSquibX 9 жыл бұрын
Trick number one: DON'T UPDATE to PP2015. It is terribly buggy. It leaks memory so hard when rendering (among other times). I did a whole project and wasn't able to export due to memory leaks in the code. I literally had to redo the whole edit in PP2014. Stay with the 2014 version, unless you want to be paying adobe to be a beta tester -.-
@FStoppers

+XSquibX We went to 2015 and then went back to 14 because it messed up so many of our projects. I was hoping they would have fixed it by now though.

Yet it still sits in the cloud app telling new people to update every day. It's sad and absolutely pathetic how adobe has been handling things since the cloud came out.
@XSquibX
@XSquibX 8 жыл бұрын
I gave it a try a week ago and the project wouldn't render out. Every single time, no matter the settings, it would run out of memory between 6 and 13%

+XSquibX These days I only edit occasionally and am updated to 2015. I don't see 2014 in the Previous Versions in the CC drop down. Can I reinstall it by going to Adobe's site?
@XSquibX
@XSquibX 8 жыл бұрын
It is in the CC drop down. Look for the area labeled "additional apps" which you haven't installed and then click on "all apps". You can then view older versions of programs from there.

Although there are so many videos nowadays that talk about shortcuts, it was this video made 8 years ago that embedded within me the concept that you only want to keep your MOST used hot keys on your left hand without having to use lift your right. Which command to assign to which key is subjective, but just that concept alone has sped up my editing process over the years and I wanted to return to this video again and say thank you! (and to also bookmark it)
