Adolf Wiklund (1879 - 1950) was a Swedish composer and conductor. His father was an organist. After graduating from the Royal College of Music, Stockholm as an organist and music teacher, Wiklund was awarded scholarships to study piano in Sweden and then in Paris. His debut as a piano soloist came in 1902 playing his own Konsertstycke in C major, Op 1. After 1911 he worked mainly as a conductor. He conducted the Swedish Royal Orchestra from 1911 to 1924, he was director of the Royal Swedish Opera in 1923, and he served as principal conductor of the Stockholm Concert Society until 1938. Wiklund's compositions are Romantic and nationalistic in style. His later works show the influence of Impressionism. His compositions have had a great impact on Swedish music. His output includes two piano concertos, a symphonic poem Sommarnatt och soluppgång ("Summer night and sunrise"), a symphony, and a violin sonata.

These two piano concertos Adolph Wikund.... Well if they aren't two if the best , most Romantic, I'll eat my Hat !! It is a criminal felony that these concertos are not being performed by big name Orchestras and big name performers world wide. I would good $$$ to hear and see these concertos performed live. Magnificent. Can some one point this out to Yuja or Lang, or Martha? Get there attention and these become overnight sensations after a Century has gone by. I come away singing the themes. What better test ! So hard to sing atonal music. You know?

The second movement is out if this world. The feeling of sheer exaltation is simply overpowering. Thank you for uploading this.

Strano che non ci sia nessun commento per questo superbo concerto.Affascinante, molto espressivo ,ancora con caratteristiche pienamente romantiche.Gia' il suo primo concerto è degno di nota .Con questo lo pongo al livello di un Atterberg (forse di un gradino al disotto) e di Stenhammar .Un grande pianista, così come altri suoi colleghi Norvegesi e Danesi. Bravo. L'interpretazione e la registrazione sono ottimi.Un bravo anche per questo ottimo inserimento.

This is a lovely composition. It gives me transcendental passages to temporal domains and pleasantry. The composer was utterly astonishing in what he created. Adolf Wiklund is up there with Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. :)

Moje skromno muzicko obrazovanje me ograničava na slusanje pedesetak poznatih kompozitora. Ovaj koncert slusam prvi put. Nikad cuo za ovog kompozitora. Malo je reci da mi je zao zbog toga. Ovo je tako dobro. Izuo me iz cipela. Hvala vam sto ste mi omogucili da cujem ovu predivnu muziku.

I'm hoping that it was for other reasons that the videos were taken down. I know that at least one is gone because the entire channel got axed. I think that was the reason all the videos were taken down and this one is safe because it wasn't about this particular work.

В России хорошо знают творчество Грига и Сибелиуса , а вот со ШВЕДСКИМИ композиторами явный пробел , поэтому очень хорошо , что вы своими записями знакомите нас с их творчеством , зто расширяет наш кругозор , картина становится более полной .
