YES, you read that right. This lovely old-skool Datsun (not even Nissan yet!!) Vanette C20, with a 4-speed column-shift manual wasn't bought, it was donated to Weevil Garage!! Many thanks to JY in Johor for sending this van over, it used to belong to his dad, and was being used daily till mid last year. Rather than seeing it go to a scrapyard, JY contacted me over email and asked if I'd like to have the van as a Weevil Garage restoration project. I accepted.
So a big welcome to the Weevil Family C20 Vanette, and you're very, very welcome indeed! SO MANY firsts with this one folks, it's the FIRST van I've ever owned, it's the first column-shifter I've ever owned and it's the first van I've ever restored! It's also the first vehicle that Ken of Kenzone ever drove in his life, and that's a huge deal to him, and he's equally excited to get his hands on this C20 too. In fact, he learned to drive a column-shift before any other type of gearbox, wow.
Stay tuned folks, this is gonna be very interesting indeed! Thank you JY for entrusting me to carry on the legacy of your dad's van, rest assured she's in good hands, not just mine, Ken's too! :)

Wow, this one’s a keeper! And your luck too you got it F.O.C, am currently working on a classic too, a 1989 saga 8-valve that i as got for only 500, needs a lot of work and its what you would call a B.E.R but it will be worth it once its done and ready, anyways wish you luck with your new van 😄

C20 also came with the square headlights... last facelift before C22 vanette came. My dad bought new C20 in 1985. Paid 19k for it (RM16k + RM3k for dual aircond).

This is gonna be super interesting. Never ever thought you will undertake a resto on a c20. When my pakcik bas sekolah mercedes bus broke down sometimes, he will send us to school using this, remember the column gear shift very well. Sweet memory from the late 80's. Wow... That is indeed an early Christmas present. Guess what, the number of the van was a bit similar with my first car which was the Nissan Sunny 130Y. Mine was 8277, and urs is 827. Have to scrap the car coz the body was too rusty but I carried over the registration number to my new car. Still get a manual car tho, even tho it's brand new. I'm happy for the Vanatte bro. Keep doing great videos!

Wahh great selection Chris. Coincidently we too bought used C22 Vanatte last month with good engine. Bad interior shape behind whole floor with rust. We refurbished all and wrapped new carpet interior at Taman Sentosa Klang where you did your Mitsubishi galant . Hope your interior will do there so we can meet 😂🤣. We owned 3rd C22 actually by now. My dad still haven’t regret himself by getting C22 any day. Great Van 90’s 20’s Most favorite vehicles for pasar malam uncles also for commercial buyers. Still C22 C20 has good value in market. Can’t wait for Ah Kei and Ken magic on this Van ✌️✌️

3:04 Mr. C22 Mc. daily workhorse semi-panel van just peeking a look at it's long lost sibling. Please preserve this van's originality with the original large typeface number plate and all. It's one of those sustainable "daily-drivable" classics much like a classic Beetle or Mini with an abundance of new spare parts and plenty of foremen with the know how to work on these things at reasonable rates. Will be really keen to see this thing ascend to road-worthy condition but as far as it seems, most of the lil bits are complete and in place. Maintaining the patina will be really neat much like those resto-mod/rat-rod VW vans given rust etc. isn't too prohibitive. Man, you really have an addiction to these sorts of old junk cars wei! Nice Johor no. plate though, can't imagine this going on a little further south that JB. Surely will would have been scrapped years ago.

Bought a blue c20 for just 2k in year 2013 and serve me for 1 year. Earn more than 30k with this in one year. Have small problems in engine and kena with blady mechanic and end with scrap. So sad
