I used to have a 5' long Red Tail Boa. She was the best pet I ever owned to be 100% honest. I'd take her out of her tank and chill with her just like this. She'd wrap around my leg when I'd be relaxing on the computer and just hang out with me. Sadly she passed away, but this video reminds me so much of her. Thank you!

I really do love seeing videos of snakes getting love and treated like real family members. They are amazing animals, but so many people do not realize how lovable they are because they do not really make sounds or have the ability for facial expressions; they can't even blink. My cornie does a similar behaviour of coming over and saying hi when she’s crawling around in the terrarium, though I could never just let her crawl about freely outside of it 😂 She’s very insistent on being in places she’s not supposed to be(such as inside my PC at one point) instead of sitting and chilling out. She’s a great little critter nonetheless though ❤

By the way her sensory pits are specifically heat sensing pits. They actually allow snakes to see heat. I don't know exactly how it works but it's linked to their vision so they're able to basically see in infrared.

When I was a kid we had a boa constrictor. She was a really chill animal and would always greet us, and stick her tongue out when we breathed a gentle puff in her face so she recognized our scent. I don't remember why my parents eventually decided we couldn't keep her anymore (after years), but they called around until they found a nearby nature center that would take her in. She stayed there for many years, and we would go visit. One time we went and there were a few similar-looking snakes in the same enclosure. My dad asked where Zelda was, and the keeper said she didn't know which one he meant, so he breathed into the cage and up came her head, flicking her tongue right up at him until she was almost touching his mouth. We were like, that's her! I'd love to get another snake one day, they're SO cool.

My ball python has the exact same personality and she's already helped lots of people stop being scared of snakes. I used to take her to school (with permission of course) and teach people about snakes and how fascinating they are

There’s this place back home in Berkeley called the “East Bay Vivarium” and is literally a massive pet store full of reptiles and amphibians. For me, it was better than any zoo. Favorite place as a kid. Would go now if I could.

I had a larger South American Red tailed Boa, who was quite friendly, and even ate from my hand; the only bad thing about him was the terrible odor of their "No. 2's" (man, it's bad). The only time he was "testy" was when he was shedding; they like to be left alone during that process, and it's good to just "mist" them with water a few times daily to help their skin loosen.
