She views it as a weapon-a powerful juxtaposition-her smile, kindness or sense of humor compared to the edge of a blade. In this context, ‘letter’ may act as a synecdoche for the other person’s last name. Through marriage she would take on the other person’s last name as her own. (I stole this from genius btw)

Her songwriting and voice get the due credit but I swear if you don’t play guitar you can’t get a handle on how complex her Travis picking patterns are.. they are SILLYYYYY tough to learn
