Some singing technique needs to be applied here, power comes from the diaphragm NOT by straining the throat muscles. But the other thing to note is that this kind of singing is done in a microphone, end of story. It's not exactly meant to be an a cappella, unplugged kind of style anyway!

I’m Vinnie Swage the washed up rocker. I was an 80’s hair metal screamer. I used belt high notes effortlessly. Unfortunately In my older years, I still have a voice but no longer can any high notes and have to adjust my voice to compensate. I’ve jumped right into the contemporary metal and I’ve struggled to get the growl although my range can handle it. I just tried Your technique and now there’s no stopping me. Thank You! 🤘😠🤘

I mean, yeah, it's not that screaming inevitably hurts your voice, it's that prolonged vocalization of any kind (screaming, singing, speaking) can strain and ultimately harm your voice over time if your technique is built on bad habits. So, wow! What a great crash course! This is really solid technique and the method here is so concise. Breath support is so important! Brilliant shortcut using a common vocal expression to build into that ore guttural scream. Gonna go check out your band now. =]

I often find screaming tutorials cringy to watch as a lot of people who upload them have either not come far in their practice, and/or they don't know how to adequately explain what they are doing. Yet I think you provided a very educational walkthrough, especially as you demonstrated in one breath the difference between exhaling with/without breath support. I think your style of walking through each new step and then repeating the whole chain of steps is helpful to many beginners!

There is MOST definitely an improper way to scream that WILL hurt your voice. I've done it many many many many many many many many many many a times. There's been several times throughout my life where I've been without a voice for a week at a time, and in serious enough pain where it hurt to even take a sip of a drink! My voice is actually permanently deeper now from the damage I've done from psychotically screaming. That being said, your crash course was wonderful, insightful, helpful, and quite funny!! More please!!❤️❤️😊 Ty.

I'm 40 and have been listening to metal since my late teens and have always made my throat hurt whenever I sang along. No friends could ever help me figure out how to scream properly, so thank you for this video. Still a little raw after, but im sure with a bit more practice I can get it. Now to figure out how to change to a higher pitch scream without tightening my vocal chords and again hurting my throat.

I've seen so many tutorials, and usually they'd have entire playlists or like 40 minutes to explain how to breathe, and I still don't understand what they mean, and then you present one sentence. I imagine my bellybutton touching my spine when I exhale, like you said, I feel how my jaw moves the way you said and I GET IT! Like, I'm so stoked, cause thanks to you I finally get it! Holy shit, I'm so stoked, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us all!

I love the transition from Orc-like tone "I DO NOT FEAR THE DARKNESS!" to all delicate / educated "I hope you find it usefull :)" (Great vid tho, will definitely try, the last part really explains why I tend to run out of air, I used to think that you growlers had like x3 lungs capacity, but I realise now that maybe I was also wasting alot of air by poor understanding of the technique).
