Hybrid catfish production in in-pond raceways. Using this system it is possible to grow 20,000 pounds of fish per acre of water.

This technology has been under development since the 1980s but has only recently been adopted at the commercial level in the US.

Constructing this project is it individually done Too, Is it extral expensive project. I am very interested to do one in Africa. Do I need ocean, lake, sea or rivers to do the project. Please advice me.👌🙏👏

We are partnering with USSEC (US Soybean Export Council) to produce an general but comprehensive instruction manual. It should be approved for public release within a few weeks. Dr. Jesse Chappell is the primary author. There are ongoing projects in several countries but none in Africa that I know about. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh would be the closest.

These systems were designed to be a closed pond to minimize discharge to the environment. The trouble with river water is that you don't really know what you are getting and don't have much control of the quality. In the US diverting water from a river would involve some heavy permitting.

Can this be used in salt water areas as cays in the Bahamas for Grouper or Snapper?

Capriata Exports The culture of marine species (at least some) is absolutely do-able. Potential problem exists with bio-fouling in many places though. Some areas are much worse than others in this respect. I can't judge a particular spot but would recommend placing some raceway materials I the water at the site for say, 6 months and see what happens. There are some excellent anti-fouling coatings out there but are not cheap. The cheap ones don't work.

How do you handle the predators? Blue heron, osprey, raccoons, mink ect...all of these creatures have invaded my ponds....just to name a few...

Poor landless people in Bangladesh can be benefitted setting those up in common water resources (Beel, Baor, Haor, Lakes such as Kaptai lake) by modifying the portable raceway technologies as cost-effective and appropriate. Need adaptive research by involving those developers in AU and farmers probably through govt. and or nongovernment organization or any development project.

why not have algae fish eat the fish waste. and have something to eat whatever bacteria that may exist in the fish ponds. organic just like produce.

use Shipping Containers as In Pond Raceways - all one has to do is seal water tight the containers.
