All I saw here is an argument to not bother to use this catch up even more now and I mean it, 82mph down the straight is just pathetic, THE BOMBUSHKA IS FASTER THAN THIS! Once again, catch up option needs to be "off" by default.

Back in the day, racing properly, the Tyrant could very well hold its own. I have a video of a staggered start race on BC24hrs, and the Tyrant absolutely dominated the race without trying. I remember an inner city track race with a lot of bumps, and because of the really high downforce, the Tyrant can do very well. As in, beat old monsters like the Tempesta or Tyrus because of how agile it is.

You don't want a flag fix then, you want those flags removed. I cant blame you, the Entity MT would have been a brilliant car to use on long races if it weren't for that nonsense.

There was a slight point in time when they attempted to "fix" the tuners and it had the adverse effect of making the AHF supers completely broken. On one of Ghillie's streams I took a Tyrant against some of the fastest supers of the time and won. The potential is there but they are so restricted anymore.

Original catchup + slipstream was powerful enough to go on to win sports races in the Blista Compact within public lobbies. Even my 2013 Cheetah continued to be competitive! It would really hand hold to its own detriment.

On the topic of race settings, is there any way to see what the host has chosen for the race now that all the important setting are on a sub-menu for the person?? I hate that the rest of the players aren't able to see the settings & prepare each race accordingly....

I genuinely don't see why catch up should be used. What's the point of being good or having a fast car if you're being slowed down? For instance, I'm a good racer in GTA Online with randoms (no catch up ofc), but dead last when racing on project homecoming or with better drivers in general, and that's how it SHOULD be

It’s mostly just for fun I think. When I race with my friends boosted catchup is always on so that those who maybe make a mistake early aren’t out. And the same few people win every time anyways so skill still plays a part

i feel the same about being slowed down cuz it only punishes you for 1. being a better racer and 2. for having played more and got better cars, but i believe boosted catchup is good for the worse players to still have a chance to catchup without punishing the ppl in front

Boosted should be the default, don't hinder the good people, make the bad people better. Or if you get wrecked earlier, you're not entirely out. Especially if you're doing stunt races, you can always slow down if you're going too fast, you can't speed up.

Exactly! Why bother having a good car, or being good at driving if its just going to slow you down and punish you for it? Whats worse is that catch-up encourages and rewards people for dirty driving and intentionally wrecking people, which is honestly one of the worst things about racing in GTA.

Catch up is needed because a normal race in this game would basically be over after the first turn. Better drivers shouldn't be out of the race because of an immediate pile up. When it's on, you can recover from other players poor driving or idiots that think it's bumper cars. When it's off, the people fortunate enough not to get caught in the pileup are usually untouchable. The bad drivers almost always stay in the back or middle of the field when it's on anyway.

I generally enjoy when R* adds a mechanic into the game which isn't the default because after a week or two most randoms stop fiddling with it anyway. Anyways, on to the creator to see if there's fun to be made with it.

Is the catchup affecting the downforce maybe? Since you were driving the ETR1. If you have slightly less drag than the person in front of you you’ll be able to corner a little bit faster thanks to the extra downforce?

As I said, the original video explains in great detail how it all works kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odB2a9ZqpqfRmI0.html - it doesn't impact downforce in any way.

Drag and downforce are different things in this game. Drag is only used internally to slow down the cars, downforce is only used to make them corner better as they go faster, they have no direct relation with each other. Open wheel cars might be the only cars in the game were both are related.

@@broughy1322 @pedinhuh16 No no, I know only drag is affected by catchup. My point was; if drag slows down a car, and a cars downforce is determined by speed, doesn’t that technically decrease cornering speed anyway? But maybe the threshold for max downforce is pretty low so it doesn’t matter anyway. Perhaps I should watch the downforce video instead😅

@@evinco6954 unless your car had truly horrific mechanical grip and ridiculous downforce, there is never a point at which you will turn harder by going faster. If a car can only go 60mph through a corner, it doesn't matter if it's being affected by catchup or not, it can still _only_ do 60mph in that corner

I do add timestamps to longer more involved videos (for example see the deep-dive video on catch-up). However 10 minutes is not a long video, and there are no natural "different parts" of the video in which to get topics from for timestamps. It's all just one topic.

@@PLANDerLinde99 you mean the Habanero and the Vectre, neither of which are in the Supers class (or would be competitive with the ETR1 if they were) and only 1 of which is a car anyone actually cares about? Also "one-make race" doesn't mean "one manufacturer" it means "one model"
