Really loving these tutorials on arranging tunes for solo piano. I have a question about the Ab7. You said you like to think of it in terms of the tritone substitute (D7#11), but I didn't really understand why, in a context where it doesn't really help the bassline. Can you elaborate a bit? Thanks!

I think you're asking about Ab7 not Bb7? If you are asking about Ab7, my thoughts on this are that I actually don't distinguish in my brain the difference between the 2 except for the fact that the extensions and alterations to those extensions change depending on the melody note, or like you said, where the bass notes are going. If this doesn't help, please choose in the spot in the timeline of this video and I will elaborate. Thanks.

Great tutorial. Maybe a little too convoluted for me, but I'll try. Thank you very much for the PDF. I know your movies are for people who already play the piano well, but I'd like to ask. It shouldn't take long. My point is that while I understand that you have to use the right scales etc, unfortunately I don't know what to play with the left hand at that time. If you could tell and show what to play with your left hand while trying to improvise and make it sound nice, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks again for your work. There are many guides on YT, but 99.9% of them are shortcuts that don't work. Best wishes :)
