In this tutorial I'll show you some left hand intermediate to advanced piano arpeggio patterns. First, I'll show you two great exercises for building up technique, and then we'll break down four unique arpeggiation patterns, discussing things like syncopation, running up and down the keyboard and how to properly finger what you're playing.
Timestamps:

1:45 Exercise #1
4:20 Exercise #2

Great! Thank you. It’s perfect for where I’m at with my playing......very challenging, but not too difficult. I especially like the way you first (and last) show us how it will sound at full speed, and then how to get there in slow speed. Thank you for all you do!

This was really good for my level. Now these things are pretty easy to me and sound very good, as if I really could play the piano:) I have forgotten the times when these types of arpeggios were difficult for me but it must have been only one year ago. Including one simple arpeggio exercise in my daily warm-up has helped me tremendously without even noticing it

Actually, it's a good thing that you're learning at that age because then you will appreciate that you want to learn and it will be exciting, unlike for kids who are taught from a young age and do not get that excitement to be able to play this amazing instrument. I recently started to learn by myself solely due to interest with no one pushing me to learn. The experience along with excitement you get is unreal.

The question is, how long should I play it slowly? ... I've spent a whole 2 weeks playing it slow with slightly increased tempo and I am still struggling in higher speeds. It's like my mind still refuses the higher speeds and can't cope with my fingers. Am I doing something wrong or is Piano just not for me? ... I started learning piano in jan 2017 and unfortunately I teach myself because I can't find a good teacher and it's not a money or budget issue. It's a teacher issue. I am at an intermediate level. Luckily, I know a lot about chords, scales, inversions, stride, arpeggios but I can't put what I want together in a musical package. I am still using my LH in block chords and a very basic arpeggiation. I wish I can do this advanced arpeggiation because it's what all about making a piano to sound as a piano. Piano is really great instrument but extremely completely difficult. Or maybe it's just my lazy mind. Good explanation sir.
@MFJMD564
@MFJMD564 4 жыл бұрын
When you get stuck, try set your focus on parts where you are stuck. Sometimes, by simply changing the way you are looking at a pattern or technical movement completely removes difficulties. For example, in his video on Exercise 2, he says that before moving your thumb, you should consider your hand position as a simple arpeggio on CMaj. So instead of focusing on individual notes, your mind can focus on a group of notes that you already know well, and it makes the whole movement much easier. Trying yourself to focus the right way will print the right way of thinking in your mind. Do not only play mecanically, try to set your focus, and train your mind to make it used to the pattern you are playing. That's where a good teacher can help you progress faster. Learning on your own can b sometimes difficult because of such issues when no one of experience is helping you when you go astray on your learning path.

@jacobhatfield764

Repeat ad nauseam, start slow to get the muscle memory down then gradually get faster. For additional challenge throw a bit of dynamic with the notes and add some transitioning with the right hand as you move up the octaves. Make sure to play everyday, be consistent about it and when you do play make sure it's with a goal in mind.
