No clue if anyone will reply, but what makes something a c chord or a d chord? I thought it was the note that was played on the rightmost side but clearly not.
@MangoldProject2 күн бұрын
It's the notes themselves: C, E, G. You can play them in any order you want.

This seems like a lot of hard work… I best get started then. I find that practicing and memorizing all this stuff is more enjoyable when adding in improvisation. It takes the staleness out of the repetition.

Should I learn all chords in all the key then move on to the scales or should i study both at the same time?
@MangoldProjectКүн бұрын
Doesn't really matter. Both are equally effective.

Your chord progression, starting at 5:20 of the video, reminds me so much of the ending/outtro of "Atlantis" by Donovan. Check it out. :)

why is Dm7 considered a subdominant when it is a ii chord? what happened to supertonic?
@MangoldProject4 күн бұрын
It is formally a supertonic. However all degrees can be classified into one of three roles: tonic, subdominant and dominant.

Thank you so much for all of your content - it's inspiring me a lot. As an idea for a future video you could talk about some cool and effective pop-licks and fills (in addition to the gospel, jazz and funk licks you already covered) :). Greetings from Germany.

Is there anyone with a piano video lesson that understands that instrumentals can be played on the piano not just 2 handed accompaniment chords or is everyone afraid of copyright. If you are playing from a fake book the right hand can play the melody leaving the left hand for chords. So show me how you handle the left hand chords while playing the melody on the right. There must be a classical song to play not protected by copy-write. Or maybe there isn’t. Just a thought as I feel this way of playing isn’t covered at all. As well fake books don’t harmonize the right hand so info on how to handle this problem would be appreciated.
