I’ve been in Law Enforcement over 25 years and have carried off duty and concealed at the four o’clock position. However the last five year since my retirement I now carry at the 2 o’clock position and find it very comfortable and easy . Living in Florida, the 2 o’clock position is not only comfortable and easy to access from standing or sitting, and also easier to conceal in warmer weather. The holster I use is a Desantis Pro Stealth , with extra built in Mag , for my Kahr PM9. Very easy to wear and draw and holster.

Does the muzzle not stab you in the theigh everytime you try to sit down? Does the holster not push up against the peak of the waist bone?

@@krisswolf2011 No not really. With the right holster , the Kahr PM9, is in a very comfortable position . Sometimes a very slight reposition , either when standing or sitting is necessary. However the ultra compact is ideal for the 2 o’clock position, for me.

@@chuckschoenthal1806 I agree. I’ve carried at the 3-4:00 position every since I’ve been carrying, but switched to appendix for the past few months. The pros for me is the very ease of access and the concealable factor. The trade off imo is comfort. Its not unbearable by any stretch, I can basically carry all day if I had to. But to your point, I’ve noticed also I have to re-adjust just a little when sitting and standing. Currently I’m carry a P365X in a T-rex arms sidecar.

I prefer 11 o'clock cross draw. I can draw while sitting, even in a vehicle, and discretely get ready to draw either standing or sitting. Reaching back is a dead giveaway, and anyone behind you can easily jack up your draw by just grabbing your arm. Cross draw I can potentially drive the gun downwards if someone is grabbing it. Can draw while retreating without giving away the draw. Can bring to bear under the arm if necessary for attacker behind me. I can draw left handed if necessary, but it's awkward. Impossible if at 3-5 o'clock. I can wear a regular sized t-shirt and not print unless maybe I bend backwards. I can sit in a chair or car seat and not have a gun sticking in my back. Due to a shoulder injury reaching back doesn't work well anyway.

Nice to see a video n where I carry. I injured my shoulder and had to have two operations on it. The farthest I can easily and quickly go is the 2o’clock position. I don’t like appendix carry. The biggest problem I have is sometimes the holster wants to slide back to the 3 o’clock or farther back. I use the belt loops as a way to keep the holster in the general 2 o’clock position. And wear a T-shirt to help with digging into your side.

I really struggled to find a good carry position for the longest time. Carried a tiny shield at 4 o’clock for many years but hated the printing even with a small gun, shirt would ride up all the time. Switched to appendix for a short while, and while it concealed much better it was extremely uncomfortable for me poking me in the leg even when I was just walking around not even sitting. Just couldn’t make it work. I now shifted to 2 o’clock and it solved all my problems. All day comfort, quick and easy draw, and no printing. I carry a CZ P-01 much larger than the shield I carried for years and even with the larger grip it still prints less than my tiny little single stack. It’s a win-win.

it's a good carry position, provided you are very well trained or use a gun with a manual safety, as the muzzle is directly over the femoral artery, and if you use 4 inch guns or less as it digs into the crook of your thigh when you're sitting down or in a car

It’s ok if you lean back a little to draw if someone charges. All you would have to do is move in sync with the attacker pivot, and spin the attacker off of your center line using the opposite hand to push the attacker away, regaining distance, remove the pushing hand clearing it, then re engage.

Okay, so you also wouldn't be "on target" if you (had) to get a round off drawing from a 2:00 position.. which I might add.. I've (never) seen Anyone do in my 42 yrs. One problem with a 2:00 position is gonna be the butt of the grip poking outward on just about any semi-auto pistol ... with a few exceptions of course. The major advantage of AIWB in my personal experience in 20yrs of concealed carry, is two-fold; #1) "Maneuverability", and #2). "Weapon retention". I'm not aware of a better concealed-carry position than "appendix" IWB, when considering the ability to protect and retain your pistol. The Absolute BEST method for actually putting these carry positions to a real test is Always gonna be "force on force" training. Get yourself a dummy gun and tuck it in the appendix position and have your training partners, friends, family members attempt to remove it from your appendix holster at times when you're not expecting it. Also, repeat this excercise while carrying in various other positions, including OWB. This doesn't merely serve as a (test), but as actual decent training that can be done while at home, or with trusted friends/family. Experience has shown me and my inner circle, that it's indeed difficult, at the least, to successfully obtain a grip sufficient enough to remove a pistol from an individual who's undergone training in weapon retention, coupled with employing an AIWB holster from a reputable manufacturer. Of course, there are always "exceptions", as I expect everyone who reads this will be the "Houdini" of yanking pistols from AIWB holsters!!! 😅. Going back to "manueverability", anyone who's ever attempted to climb over obstacles, enter/exit different types of vehicles, grapple/wrestle with training partners of various shapes/sizes/abilities or (carry) other similarly-sized or larger people on their shoulders while running for any significant distance; will Know just how important the manner in which your weapons/gear are attached to you... MATTERS!!! Next time you're at your BJJ practice, slap an OWB holster with a blue gun on, and have your training partners take you down (by surprise), and see how long you can maintain possession of that weapon!!!!! I submit to you that the result may be a real "eye-opener".... which I hope will serve as a turning point in how yourself and those in your sphere of influence "go about" training and personal safety going forward. In the words of a dear friend... "Train Hard, Train Smart" ---John Lovell

Hey John I have been following you for years and respect what you do. While AIWB is probably the best carry position for a large portion of the population. There are plenty of us that are old and broken down. I have carried at the 2:00 for years because of my limitations. This gives me easy access from sitting, driving and standing positions. We are not all young and fit anymore. There comes a time in one's life when you have to face reality. This does not mean being unprepared. Situation awareness and not putting yourself in a position to be attacked are the most important things. Quick and easy access to your firearm is next. If your firearm is not accessible or comfortable people tend to leave it at home or in the car. Since I will probably not be climbing, chasing or wrestling the 2:00 position works well for my situation. When your body fails you the brain must compensate. I hope you have perfect health for the remainder of your life but reality is the older you get the less likely perfect health. Like you say....train hard....train smart and never get old or disabled.

Cool. I thought I’d never see a 2 o’clock video. I’ve been carrying my 229 legion with an extended +2 magazine at 2 o’clock for the past 6 years. It’s the best for me, not saying it’s the best for everyone, just best for me. Everybody has a different body shape. I carried a Glock 19 appendix for a couple of years and it was a lot of suffering, I tried everything you can think of, different holsters and holster add ons and accessories, nothing helped. Then I found out that because I have a forward pelvic tilt, this carry position would never work. Then I tried both 4 and 5 o’clock. And while it was much better than appendix, my compact guns would print like crazy. Everyone could notice if I needed to bend over slightly or if I’m sitting, especially visible while sitting. Also both 4 and 5 o’clock were hard to get to in a vehicle. My problems ended when I switched to 2 o’clock. I’m just as fast out of 2 o’clock as I was out of appendix, about 2 seconds to first accurate shot at 7 yards from both positions. About 1.8 seconds to first accurate shot at 5 yards from both positions. Interesting thing is that I now notice some people who carry this way because I look there now. Took me three years to find this position. It sits slightly to the side of your stomach, right at the beginning of the hip. Another words between the stomach and the hip. This way the stomach is out of the way, I mean if you have some extra stomach this position is definitely better than appendix. Also my compact guns don’t print anymore and bending down is just normal, unlike appendix, when I had to pull up on the rig to bend down. This position is also car accessible. You can easily draw from this position just like you would appendix. In the car the handle of your gun is above and to the right of a seat belt buckle, an unobstructed access, just bring your cover garment over and in between the holster and your body when in the car. Overall I really like it. It looks exactly like the video. I carry my 229 legion every day everywhere all the time. I use a Blackpoint Tactical mini wing holster on the right side and a Blackpoint Tactical IWB spare mag pouch on the left side 10 o’clock. I use Kore Essentials carbon fiber gun belt, it’s the only model they have 6 pounds rated. Their tactical gun belt is 8 pound rated but extremely stiff, too stiff in my opinion. The leather 4 pound belt is not enough. The carbon fiber 6 pound belt is perfect in my opinion, not too stiff and full support. In my opinion there isn’t too much of a difference between appendix, which is usually 12 or 1 o’clock and a 2 o’clock. It’s just more suitable for certain body types. The difference really begins at 3 o’clock. The 2 o’clock is pretty much a modified appendix. Kinda like isosceles and modified isosceles. Please keep in mind that my opinions are based on my experience. Others may have a different experience. Hope this helps anyone.

I just switched to 2 o’clock position a couple months ago and it was life changing. Just couldn’t make appendix comfortable no matter what I tried. Carrying a heavy CZ with fully loaded 15 rounds and a streamlight didn’t help either. Now at the 2 position I have the holster pretty much right over my front right pants pocket, kinda on my hip bone but most of the gun just to the left of my right hip bone and it conceals just as good as appendix and no printing like I had at 4:30 position. Game changer.

Should have demonstrated with the right knee on the ground (vertical femur) or right foot one step behind. One advantage of 2oclock is when using a back pack (medium to huge), holstering on the pack's belt. The centerline belt buckle is still easy to reach, the gun drags less than 3oclock, the chest is clean for air/binoculars/etc, and drawing from support hand is easier than 3oclock.

How many inches of the weapon is below the top of belt for this carry style. I want to see that happens if you sit in a chair and tie your shoe on carry side foot. How tall are you? How much space between top of belt to where your leg bends on top? Do thick muscular thighs change this space? What builds of people tend to like this carry method? Is there a minimum amount of space required for a 3 inch barrel? Can you do this with a dress shirt tucked in or is there too much printing of the weapon? What tends to make people avoid this method most? Do tall athletic people do better than short and stout folks?

A couple of thoughts on the 5 o’clock position. It’s just further behind your body you have to reach to bring the gun further back around to the front. All of that takes time because of longer travel distances. Consider some gun fights are won or lost in tenths or hundredths of a second With a jacket or cost not such a big deal but having to lift a shit or sweatshirt with the same hand you’re using to draw your weapon is considerably more task loading your dominant hand as compared to lifting a garment with your support hand and drawing with your right hand. Run drawing from different positions on a shot timer that will tell you the truth. Just some thoughts 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m a big fan of drawing to beneath the dominant eye and prepping the trigger during a level extension kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdJxaJx225nJdqs.html

Works OK if you're fully bladed or 3/4 from the threat. Works well with jackets. Everything else is problematic. Awful retention. Possible spine fracture if falling on hard ground/fighting. The number one reason that I like 3 o’clock is the fact that you can conceal the retrieval of the pistol by slightly adjusting your body. It also puts an attacker as far as way from my draw as possible. If I am attack, physically, close-up I’ve got my left hand to delay and draw.

I guess if you wore your pants and belt high enough you could make this 2 o’clock thing work…

So let’s say you’ve been ambushed by an armed robber and you have a loaded gun pointed in your face (as is the case with most armed robberies)... will you be able to draw from the 2 o’clock and defend yourself? What if your gun just happened to be at 4 or 5 o’clock, right above where your wallet is? And since it is on your back you can draw from concealment without the criminal seeing you pull it from the holster. As you go to present your wallet, you present a few hollow point 9mm rounds as you side step. Action always beats reaction. Try it with a SIRT pistol. You’ll see 4/5 o’clock is the best way for CIVILIANS to carry since the primary threat is being robbed from an ambush.

Most likely, if the threat has a jump on you and ambushed you... Unless you're some Grand Master of drawing from concealment, you will never, regardless of concealed position, be able to draw and apply effective shots on your threat. It's almost mathematically impossible.

I carry my wallet in my front pocket. Having my wallet in my back pocket hurts my back. Trying to draw with a gun in your face is plain ignorant. You need to first knock it away or wait until the robber isn’t pointing at you then draw. Otherwise you’re drawing from the drop, sure way to get shoot instead.

You said “you’ll see 4/5 o’clock is the best way for civilians”….unless like me you’ve injured your shoulder and can’t get your arm to go back that far. There is no one way fits all. Go with your preferred method, practice drawing from there until you’re very good doing it.

@@billshepherd5090 ...Craig’s classes are amazing. I highly recommend them. You have to get the bad guy thinking and answering a question... try it yourself with a shot timer. See what your normal time is from beep to shoot. Then have someone ask you random questions you have to think about answering and sometime in there they hit the button and sound the beep while you are answering or about to answer... then see what time is from beep to shot. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/opiSnsqTrKzYnZs.html
