I didn't even know very much about Sephiroth at all at the time of the reveal, all I knew is that he was from Final Fantasy, he's evil, he has a singular wing, and he's hot. That's literally it, and yet, I recognized exactly who it was from the first note because I've loved OWA for years.

Among my worst childhood memories was looking for the movie after I saw its trailers and YT clips later, and renting the wrong one after years of hype. I recall finding an FF dvd at a Video USA after months of searching, only to get home and find out it's the 2001 movie. On my 1st watch I kept thinking, "Sephiroth will pop up any moment ", I think I've never had a similar drop from joy to sadness as huge since. At the time: I'd never played any FF game prior and wasn't a into the genre; I wasn't aware it was a game franchise; lastly I thought there's only one FF movie.
