Hi Martin, fire was the start of June. Fair play to the fire fighters for containing it, could've been a lot worse. I heard they found a load of copper wire up there so that answers how it was started. I used New Balance trail runners and found them great. They've free returns on their website too.

On my second pair of Hoka atr goretex, very happy with them.. They are tough/good last in them and comfortable. The only drawback I find with the goretex is the feet feel hotter in the hot weather compared with regular trainers.. Not a big issue right now

Great video Martin! Brilliant start/intro! Good that you shared a real time pitfall - Falling on your ass, or in your case, your back. Hope nothing broken or bent except your pride, although I think you swallowed that nicely I have been using HOKA trail runners for a while. Pretty impressed with them. Yes, they get wet but they dry out pretty quick. I recently purchased HOKA boots with GTX. Very light on the feet. I have yet to get out for a walk in them. I'll send you on a couple of pics through messenger. Thanks again (tank on legs, built for comfort, happy out) Martin. Living legend!!!!

How old is Freya, I only ask as think you said she was young. Vets un UK when we got our pup told us to stick to 5mins per month of his age. Obviously he could walk lot longer but it's all the do with young bones, and may cause issues in later life. However, Freya is a slight of build, so may be different. Great walk though, and yep loved the rain section. Have great weekend adventuring with Freya.

Freya is 8 months old, and your concern for her well-being is much appreciated. Indeed, it's a good practice to consider a dog's age, breed, and build when determining their exercise needs. As Freya is slight of build, her requirements may differ slightly. It's important to strike a balance between exercise and not overexerting her, especially during her growth phase. Would highly recommend the M.O.A.B. GTX 3 shoe , just completed the Wicklow Way yesterday (wearing these shoes) very comfortable ,no blisters,dry feet, good grip and reasonably lightweight. (I have recently ordered the Altra Lone Peak 7 shoe as recommended by Paul Messener and Jason.

Altra loan peak 7s or altra olympus 5s can't go wrong. Get wet but dry quick. I take nice waterproof socks n poolside pumps to change into.

Hi Martin, walked the 12 o'clock hills 13km loop end of July and found out literally the day before I went that the sundial had been taken away for repair as it had come loose. Apparently the pointer has also been broken off and removed more than once. Also, had a nice chat with a woman I met on the way down who told me that the fire had happened only a couple of months earlier - such a shame. Enjoyed the vid, having walked that route so recently!

Oh, that tumble was a real shocker! Thankfully, my trusty bag took the hit and saved me from a worse fate. 🎒😅 Grateful for that stroke of luck! It could have been a lot worse.

Hey David. Not off the lead yet. Getting there thou. Will take a while. They are sight hounds so what they see they go for. Absolutely beautiful temperament.. so relaxed.

@@soletrail ah okay. The animal rescue place I volunteer at in Kildare has a lot of Lurcher-type breeds looking for homes so I’ll be watching out for those characteristics. All the best with the training.

Hello. I have only had Freya 8 weeks so its all fairly new for her. Still learning the call back etc. I bring her to a dog friendly enclosed park so I can practice calling back. So what she see's she goes for. It will take time. Collie's are in my top 3 dogs. Adore them. They are so so smart so practice demands. What is your furry friends name?
