Fishing two private farm lakes with special permission, that haven't been touched for YEARS! Big fish have been swimming in here, but what are they, and can we catch them? I mostly focused on Perch fishing in this video, lure fishing for perch, and the place was full of them.
As always, thank you very much for watching. I really hope you enjoyed the video! If you did, don't forget to drop a like, subscribe to see more and leave a comment to let me know what you think!
Thank's again for all the support with the website, here's a link for everyone that wants to check it out! LINK: www.adventurefishinguk.com/

Aloha. This reminded me of being a kid in Ohio. Our neighbors across the road raised cows. They had a small pond that nobody fished, not the kids or the parents. I would literally knock on their door with my zepco outfit, a bucket and tackle box and ask the Smiths if I could fish. They always said yes, and I’d traipse down the dirt track. Loaded with big bluegill, sunfish, shellcrackers, plus some bass. I’d use worms, crickets, grasshoppers and any else for bait. Just a hook, bobber, and split shot. Beautiful days, and some good fried panfish.

What a treat to fish a virgin water - extremely rare. Does anyone remember Mr Crabtree who used to advise on fishing techniques in the 1960s 70s? He used to talk about the angler keeping low to avoid their shadow falling on the water .... I think he would have seriously disapproved of wearing a bright red fleece!

@@adventurefishinguk I thought it probably is but .... fish can still see just as well as they did then. Captivating comic strip style book, published, I think, by The Mirror group ( newspapers, not carp!) A compelling read for a fishing mad lad in the late 1960s.

If you are going for skittish fish like pike, trout or whitefish this can be very important, but here we are talking about perch, these things will hide under your boat while fishing from it and attack lures larger than they are.

Don't be too quick to judge. Fauna reproduces in cycles so a population explosion then decline is normal. Those waters are large enough to hold decent fish numbers. I expect there to be Rudd and possibly crucians. Perch will feed on fry and grow large.

As a boy in a Oxfordshire there was a local small stately home, it had two small lakes, as a 13 yr old I wrote to the owner asking permission, and she allowed four people a year permission, there were lots of Roach medium size carp, and Tench, we never thought there were predators, on an impulse we put a lure on and the result were two Perch over 4 Lbs

We had a pond that was researched by the ministry and they said it was over crowded by perch and sunfish. Personally id set a line using one of them guys to catch a wels catfish(if its legal in the UK) to know if theyre in there. Beautiful ponds, ans healthy; i could see big algaeblooms everywhere that is a good sign of baitfishes "farming" them . both the small ones eating off the bottom and the common size a possibly sign of larger preditory fishes, bass as you say. Cant wait to see part 2 maybe with a kayak or waders to get up in them trees and hsbitat. Happy fishin'

In lakes like that there are almost always a few absolute units. But they can be quite tricky to catch, my best method has been a floater with a piece of a smaller perch thrown out and reeled in incredibly slowly across the lake. Give it a go and I think you will have results.

Most of the time there is not much in an untouched pond, if left unchecked one species can take over by robbing nests and eventually be the only fish in there, then become overpopulated and they are all small. It is very healthy to fish and harvest them. I found a pond that had a single catfish in it that was over 30lbs, he ate all the panfish and was surviving on bullfrogs is my guess.
