Fun fact that most people don't know. The Andaman Islands are an extension of the Himalayas. The range goes at a downward slope west to east and actually submerges in the Bay of Bengal. The Andaman Islands are the peaks of the submerged mountain range, the Arakan Range

The first time I started watching Gabriel's videos was during Harald Baldr Everest's (Himalayan or Everest Base Camp hike). After that, I craved real hikes. I was born in the mountains of Sri Lanka, and I used to hike almost every day. These guys really inspired me to explore nature and the mountains.

I've always been intrigued by the missing people in the Parvati Valley due to my work with search and rescue. Great video and it is absolutely beautiful. It's currently on my list of valleys to visit when I return to Manali in a few weeks. Gabriel, thank you🙏!!!

I would say some will have lost it on drugs and like Jungle mentions try to live in a cave like a sadhu. I remember meeting one Russian guy in Rishakesh who was proudly showing his expired passport and was declaring that he was going to live in a cave on berries. Others, I say get tangled up in drug deals gone bad, and others I guess others have the misfortune to just run into the wrong people. You do have to be careful in India. I remember the walk to Triund was best to do in a group of people due to the occasional armed robbery on the walk. It must be awful for the families not knowing what happened to their children.

Hi Gabriel, it's just a spectacular day for a hike with clear blue skies, no haze, and little industrial development in the area. the bug story was incredibly funny you do not want to get bitten by a spider Black Widow or Brown Recluse they're deadly poisonous and not to alarm you but the Danny Long spider you mentioned may be another type of poisonous spider with long legs there are many. Could you imagine if they built a gondola system in those mountains that would attract so much attention? There is a lot of promise for this area in terms of tourists and I mean in considerable numbers. This is classic Gabriel, long hikes and into the unknown with a comfortable feel of California's familiar natural settings.

The Himalayas are roughly 40-50 million years old and the Sierra Nevadas are roughly 40 million years old and they're roughly at the same latitude (Sierras slightly higher) so maybe that's why they feel similar.
@knightatdawndonbynight8432
@knightatdawndonbynight8432 9 ай бұрын
What? These are lower himalayan sub ranges. Peaks of upper himalayan sub ranges scale over 8000 m and Soerra Nevadas are no match for upper Himalayas. Also the himalayas are much bigger with 2500 km length and 400 km maximum width compared to Sierra Nevada's 640 km length and 130 km maximum width. Some mountain passes of the himalayas are located at altitudes (of above 5000 m) higher than Mount Whitney, the highest peak of the Soerra Nevadas.
@patrickw123
@patrickw123 9 ай бұрын
@@knightatdawndonbynight8432 yes the Himalayas are higher but he mentioned in the video that the vegetation and geography reminded him of the Sierras. Where he said that in the video was probably 2,500 m elevation so similar type of pine and cedar biome, not that the sierras were taller than the Himalayas!

Love this video! I remember those big spiders from Himachal Pradesh, they were monstrous. I remember the daily screams when a new traveler would discover one in their rooms. They were fairly docile though. I also remember all the scorpions there. One night I woke up feeling something on my shoulder, and it was a scorpion. I had felt something around my feet before I fell asleep, then it must have crawled up over my whole body on to my shoulder. That one got splattered too, but only after I had stopped dancing around the room freaking out.

@rishavlala709
@rishavlala709 9 ай бұрын
For a 2 week stay in and around a place like Manali, including Cab rides to places and food, the cost would be 3-4k USD, at this budget you'd get a good place to stay, better than Gabriel's 😅 . You can do it in less than 2k as well if you find rooms under 20 a night. Food and transportation would be near about the same. Doesn't include the flight tickets to Delhi.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 9 ай бұрын
You can do it for a lot cheaper. My room here is $19 a night for a pretty nice room. Food is cheap, not much else to spend money on. You can easily get by on $30-$50 a day. Call it $40 a day, that's a little more than $500 for two weeks as far as daily expenses. Maybe you'll spend more but less than $1,000 for two weeks is very doable.
