That is the mind set to have, keep at it! At the same time make sure that you do not put your education nor your life on hold while you do this. AF wants to know that their future cadets while inspired to want to serve also have goals and ambitions beyond, and can commit to a goal.

This is really good stuff and my assessment of my chances for getting into Annapolis has completely reversed... I now believe I can get in. I've made it into the Summer Seminar Session 3 in a couple weeks and I feel I have a good chance of going beyond to the Academy itself.

Great video Sir. I will be entering my Junoor Year at FUMA and plan to apply for Annapolis, West Point. VMI and the Citadel next year. My grades are excellent, hold a Cadet leadership position who works hard and work all Cadets in my Platoon long and hard. I play sports and I was told I should have get involved in the Community.? I think the biggest challenge will be going from a hard leader to back to being a follower and have to work my way back to the top. and learn how to lead all over again.

Hey man.. what were ur SAT ACT scores at the end of all of your retakes?
@cybercab5 жыл бұрын
Good info. I applied to all three but attended the AF. Later served on the selection committee. Very interesting process. As a candidate I think I would have prepared differently knowing what I know now. Namely, I wasted a lot of time doing things like band and too many social clubs. I should have just focused on grades, academic teams and sports. Maybe take a class on taking the SAT as well. Never did. But I got primary nom so it didn't matter in the end. Not sure I'd want to go there now knowing what I know. But it can be a great fit for many.
@oilkos773 жыл бұрын
Just curious - what do you know now that would keep you from applying?
@cybercab3 жыл бұрын
@@oilkos77 I know what the experience is like. I have nightmares about the place 31 years later. I could have been more successful at another college and the civilian world of employment. The biggest issue is that you do so much that I lost the love of learning. You just put out fires and try to avoid getter NF kicked out for whatever. Not worth the effort. But that’s just me. I have three siblings. One was very happy with it. One felt like it was a waste like me. I have not asked the other sibling.
@cybercab3 жыл бұрын
@@oilkos77 Also the political ideology has shifted significantly. Their recent commercial boasted about new racist policies on admittance. They do not want the best candidates. They want the right mix of people based on the color of their skin. I know a word for that. I also saw a group of people from the Academy promoting a controversial Marxist group. If you're white you will need to perform at a higher level. If you're Asian...good luck! Best thing to be is a female who is a minority and has some sort of sexual dysphoria. The racism is not new. What's new is that they admit it and are proud of it. My mind is completely blown. The leadership is "just following orders." But all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. All that being said, I'd still give it serious consideration. It is free and it's amazing education. You'd face all those issues at regular schools as well. But as I approach 50 I can look back and see that I wasted years of my life on things which mean nothing. Did the best I could. Things turned out well so I can't complain too much.
@oilkos773 жыл бұрын
@@cybercab thank you for your honesty! Interesting perspective...My son plans to apply next year so I am gathering info. I agree with the shifting political perspective, everywhere. People don’t realize how well they have it here! Speaking from first hand experience, coming from former Soviet Union. Socialism is a big NO! My son loves learning, especially calculus. I certainly would not want him to lose that. Hmm I guess he wouldn’t be too disappointed if he didn’t get in then :) Do you mind if I email you? My son wanted to know more about what’s life at the academy is like and whether he can handle it. Thank you for sharing your opinion! I am glad things turned out well for you :)

What if I can't elaborate as well? I generally won't have a conversation I won't stutter in. For me at least, it takes time to think and form words. It's not just an automatic click in my brain and I know what to say. My answers aren't any less authentic or genuine. But when I prepare beforehand and have those responses in my mind it'll be much easier to make my point and intentions across. Can I fix this?

I’m sorry but how am I supposed to answer that team question? I mean, it doesn’t really seem like there is a wrong or a right answer. It seems like they just kind of want you to give them a valid reason maybe. But i am not sure. I am only in 7th grade but I’m 100% attempting to work out and get good academics to prepare myself. I want to get into this college.

Honestly since you’re in 7th grade all you gotta worry about is being a kid, once you enter highschool get involved with school, volunteer, get into sports, be well rounded and have humility, but for the time being, be a kid and enjoy being one
