Adya's retirement letter shocked me at first since I had no idea about these issues he was dealing with, but immediately after, I also felt that deep sense of relief, knowing that as enlightened as he can be, he's always been as human as any of us... and I told myself, hey! relax, you're doing just fine! Get some popcorn and enjoy the show! 😉🙏❤️

I have followed Adya for many years. He has occasionally brought his chronic pain into a teaching though hasn't dwelled on it. If that helps your friend, it hasn't been a secret.

Sometimes there's nothing to do except wait through the pain, or try to distract from it. Depending what the person in the pain feels up to simultaneously, moment to moment.

When one is in physical pain, especially excruciating pain, how does one live through that? I'm thinking about a friend of mine who has been in and out of the hospital for some six months now, and he says his pain is a 9 out of 10. If he can sit still, without moving, his pain is not too bad. But when he moves, be it getting out of bed or walking a couple feet to a chair, his pain level is back to a level of 9.
